John Bock Research Task

Marlit John BockJohn Bock was the artist I chose for my research task.

Bock is a German artist who is famous for his live performances that are called lectures .

His lectures consist of handcrafted environments made from found objects to represent some symbolic settings.

I wasnt really into his work but I could what he was trying to do.

Newspaper ArticleIn this project we were required to create a sculpture inspired by an article from that days newspaper.

I found inspiration from the section called Today in History 23 February. 1954 The first mass inoculation of children against polio with Salk vaccine began in Pittsburgh.

A drawing of the sculpture I created.

A Found ObjectThis project required us to create a sculpture from objects found at the dump

After my trip I returned with:

Old board games3 floppy disksA keyboardA mantle clock

My finished projectall work and no play

Aluminium Casting

My final project for Sculpture was to produce a aluminium sculpture.

To achieve the final piece Styrofoam moulds were crafted and then set in sand boxes.

Once at the right temperature molten aluminium was poured over the Styrofoam runners and left to cool.

Lastly the sculptures needed to be filed backed and polished.

And now I have two aluminium mushrooms that I made sitting on my windowsill.
