Learnt about the front cover codes & conventions.The start of the planning stage.Thursday 11 th September I have learnt about target audience theories.Started completing the target audience for Q Magazine.

Monday 15th September Monday 15 th September Today I have started to set up my blog page. I have chosen an

appropriate theme as well as adding a base template to format my work.Thursday 18 th September I have started working on my target audience for my new magazine.I have also yet to create my survey on SurveyMonkey.Friday 19 th September I have completed writing up about my target audience and have also finished creating the survey on SurveyMonkey. I am still waiting to get an image of my typical reader.Annotated the prelim task codes and conventions as well as what default design we must have on the magazine cover.

Monday 22nd September Monday 22 nd September Finished the hard copy questionnaire to hand out.Started mind-mapping ideas for my music magazine and learn a few basics skills on Photoshop in order to create a successful front cover.Thursday 25 th September Learnt some skills in photoshop and started to design the front cover for the preliminary task.

Monday 29th September Thursday 2 nd October Made significant progress on to prelim front cover, I have added conventions such as the barcode, social media, masthead and main headline on the front cover. Need to also take a picture of my sister to use as the main image.Friday 3 rd October I have taken the picture of my sister for the prelim cover and have

added it to the photoshop file. I also took a picture of my target audience for the main profile.I have also presented my SurveyMonkey results on powerpoint. I also need to present my questionnaire results.

Monday 6th October Monday 6 th October Fully completed presenting my SurveyMonkey results, Pretty much neatly finished my Prelim Front Cover.Thursday 9 th October Completed by Prelim front cover. I have also started on my Masthead fonts for my main task, along with a prop list for the main task. I have also started making some edits to previously completed work for more detail.

Monday 13th October Monday 13 th October Learnt about the Contents Page conventions and completed presenting my questionnaire results.Thursday 16 th October I have started to create the layout for my prelim contents page, by dragging across features from the prelim front cover. I have also looked at some exemplar work in order to get a proper idea of how the contents page is supposed to look.Friday 17 th October I have started to add some of the features onto my contents page. I have added a copy of my front cover onto the page, along with starting to set the different sections out.

Monday 20th October Monday 20 th October I have almost finished my prelim contents page, all I need to do now is to put all the stories on and also a few anchoring images.Thursday 23 rd October I have fully completed my prelim contents page and only need to make a couple of changes to my editorial.

Half Term

Monday 3rd November Monday 3 rd November I have been given back some corrections for my prelim contents page and have started to amend some of the issues with it. I still need to take a few more images in order to fully complete it.Thursday 6 th November I have worked on trying to complete my Mind Map for the main task; I had to update it as I had a hard time trying to choose names and connotations behind it for the magazine.Friday 7 th November I have fully completed my prelim contents page by adding the image of Mr Brooks.I have also been working on my main task mind map. The only slides needing to be completed on it now is the strapline language and the font styles.

Monday 10th November Monday 10 th November Have almost finished my mind-map, just thinking on some more ideas

for the strapline to properly fit the audience and purpose.Thursday 13 th November I have started on my music magazine front cover and managed to get the basic conventions added, which included the masthead, the barcode and a few of the cover lines in a similar fashion to XXL magazine.I also finished my mind-map completely and have uploaded it onto my blog.

Monday 17th November Thursday 20 th November I have worked on my contents page and added some more of the basic features. I have also been working to get together some of the props for Friday’s photoshoot.Friday 21 st November I went to the photoshoot afterschool and took a lot of pictures that I could choose from to use on my front cover.

Monday 24th November Monday 24 th November I have placed the image I want to use on my front cover and have been carefully going around the edges to remove all of the background so that I get a better finish to the image.Wednesday 26 th November I started refining my main image by adding details such as tattoos. Currently just experimenting with it, as it may not actually turn out very well.Thursday 27 th November Whilst working on my image I have decided that there is not enough

attitude in Jack’s facial expression. So I will be trying to retake the image again when I get the chance to.

Monday 1st December Monday 1 st December I have worked on my contents page and started adding some details on it such as the cover story and started the layout for the stories and sublines.Thursday 4 th December Worked on my production plan that should have been completed a while ago, however it is now nearly completed.Took pictures again for my front cover to better illustrate the genre.

Monday 8th December Monday 8 th December I have completed both my production plan and my photoshoot plan, which again should have been completed a while back.I have now properly started working on my contents page adding in content to the basic layout.Thursday 11 th December I have of course continued working on my contents page and now have started working out the stories and sublines that will be on the page. This included trying to invent some story lines and short sublines as well as the different fonts to be used on it.I also set the basic layout for my editorial.

Monday 15th December Monday 15 th December I have added around half of the stories onto my contents page at this time, playing around with the text sizes and spacing it order to get the correct effect.

Thursday 18 th December I have finally completed adding the stories on my contents page, and I also have started on my editorial text.

Christmas Holidays

Monday 5th January Monday 5 th January I have now completed around half of my editorial and inserted it onto my editorial page in order to gauge how detailed it is so far. This is actually proving to be quite a struggle for me as it is unusual to type in that type of language.Thursday 8 th January I have worked on my magazine flat plan which was previously completed; however I decided to redo it on PowerPoint in order to make it look more professional.

Monday 12th January Monday 12 th January Today I have worked towards writing up the content for my Double Page Spread. I looked through my actual issue of XXL I order to gauge was sort of content I should add for my DPS.Thursday 15 th January I worked some more on my editorial page today by adding the Roles and Responsibilities of the magazine onto the left side of the page in a similar fashion to XXL.Friday 16 th January Last night I retook the images for all of my pages with my smartphone.

I was told my Mr Crafts it would be ideal if they were taken again in a photography studio and professional camera to achieve a higher quality image. Instead I completed all of the features of my Contents and Editorial pages and is now just waiting the final images to be placed onto the page.

Monday 19th January Monday 19 th January

Thursday 22 nd January Today I worked on the layout of my DPS. I did this by adding 3 columns on each of the pages and added text boxes to add in the content for my DPS Interview. I’ve added the page details at the bottom of each page and finally added a black box to separate the content and what will be the pull quote.

Monday 26th January Monday 26 th January I have fully completed my DPS interview and it is now added onto the page.Thursday 29 th January Today I have again worked on my DPS and changed the colours of the questions to red instead of black. I also added in some social media logos. Hopefully later on today I will be taking the pictures for this page.

Monday 2nd February Monday 2 nd February Today here was a matter of taking the final image and editing it in photoshop to achieve the effect I believe was most suited for this page. However when imported to InDesign I had some trouble with the

quality of the image and the edges were not as smooth as I wanted to so I had to go back into photoshop and re-edit the image.Thursday 5 th February Today I have worked on getting the final touches done on my magazine pages. I have done this by going through it with my teacher and he has given me feedback. I quickly applied this feedback to my pages.

Monday 9th February Monday 9 th – Thursday 12th February Mock Exams all week, coursework has been unable to be completed.Friday 13 th February Today I have spent a whole day working on the coursework trying to get it all completed before half term. I believe that I have finish all of my pages and it is a matter of asking Mr Crafts to mark them so I can make any corrections over half term.

Half Term

Monday 23rd February Thursday 25 th February I finished the corrections for my pages and have been trying to save them so I can finally upload them onto my blog page.

Monday 30th February Wednesday 4 th March I have started on both evaluation Question 1 and 2, making a script in word so that during the Easter break I can properly make the

evaluation into its proper forms.Thursday 5 th February Today I have worked on continuing with my evaluation of my magazine; however I have also worked to add all of my coursework onto the blog page.
