• When using a Masculine Noun, you use the word ‘Du’ when you say the word ‘some’.

• For example: du fromage = some cheese du jambon = some ham du poulet = some chicken du lait = some milk

De la

• When using a Feminine Noun, you use the words ‘De la’ when you say the word ‘some’.

• For example: de la confiture = some jam

• When using a Plural Noun, you use the word ‘Des’ when you say the word ‘some’.

• For example: des tomates = some tomatoes des œufs = some eggs

De l’• When a Masculine or Feminine Noun,

starts with a vowel ( or a silent ‘h’) you use the words ‘De l’’ when you say the word ‘some’.
