Evaluation of Score:SAT scores are based on a percentile basis; i.e. you are assessed on the basis of where you stand in relation to other students taking the same test. Scoring of the SAT Test is done in two ways: raw and scale. The raw score is a tabulation of questions answered correctly or incorrectly. Students are encouraged not to leave answers blank because they are not penalized for wrong or blank answers in a student-produced answer section. Students receive 1 point for a correct answer and get 1/4 point deducted for wrong answers only in the multiple- choice questions. The number of points deducted depends on how many options you get for that particular multiple-choice question. The more the multiple-choice question options there are, the smaller the fraction of a point deducted. Students are not penalized for wrong answers on other types of questions. Questions left unanswered do not affect raw scores. The scaled score normalizes for different forms of the test taken by different students at different times. Students receive test scores by mail within 3 to 6 weeks of taking the test. They are given their raw score as well as their percentile that ranks how many other test-takers got a lower score. For example, scoring in the 90th percentile means that student scored higher than 90 percent of everyone else.Multiple Choice Questions:The highest possible score for the SATStep 1:Your raw scores are calculated for each section based on the number of questions you got correct or incorrect or left unanswered. +1 point for questions you get correct -1/4 point deducted for incorrect multiple-choice 0 points deducted for incorrect student-produced response (math section) 0 points deducted for questions you don't answerStep 2:Step 3:Your raw score is then converted to a scaled score (reported on a 200-800 scale) by a statistical process called equating. For conversion of raw score to scaled score use Score Conversion table given below. Do you Know ? All questions are worth one point regardless of the type or difficulty.No. of correct questions (No. of wrong questions 4) = Raw Score 15.
