  • According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration,
  • 13 percent of all workplace fatalities result fromSudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) . Between 2001 -2002 there were6,625work place deaths.
  • Of these deaths1216wereSudden Cardiac Arrest(when the heart stops) 354from environmental electrical shock and267 from asphyxiation.

  • Sudden cardiac arrest ( SCA ) is the sudden,unexpectedloss of heart function, breathing and consciousness.SCAusually results from an electrical disturbance in your heart that disrupts its pumping action and causes blood to stop flowing to the rest of the body.SCAis different from a heart attack, which deprives the heart muscle of necessary oxygen. Unfortunately, anyone can sufferSCA.It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere - even teenagers.
  • An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable medical device used to restore normal heart rhythm to patients inSCA .

  • Locating the patient, especially if there is an accident or other people involved

  • President Clinton in 2000 passed The Cardiac Survival Act, which provides AED users protection from liability on both the federal, and state level. AED usage varies from state to state all but one state has a Good Samaritan Law in place.

  • Is your agency staff in need of CPR training?
      • We come to your business.
      • Materials can be purchased from us.
      • We will keep track of staff that are certified and send
      • a reminder of who is due.
      • We provide our own CPR manikins.
      • Classes over eight will have two instructors.
      • No class is too big or too small.
      • We teach American Heart Association CPR/AED.
      • We can provide refresher classes on the off year if
      • needed or purchase a safety-mate for review.
