Perth Education City Report -Opportunities
• WA hosts 7.8% of Australia’s international students - In 2003 hosted
11%, the same as WA’s national population share (our benchmark).
• Perth in the same time zone as 60% of the World’s population (key
student markets)
Perth Education City Report Strategic Potential - Economic Impact• An international student = $77,000 p.a. to the WA State economy.
Each 1% increase in the number of students choosing WA (6,000)
could equate to $462 million p.a. to the State economy.
•Returning to 11% would require an additional 22,000+ students; potentially worth $1.7 billion!
Expenditure per student
