Risk assessment

There are some precautions in the production of my magazine that need to be considered.

Firstly, the actual filming for the front cover, contents page and double page spread article could involve some health and safety risks. The camera if not being held by a person needs to be securely held on a tripod to ensure that it doesn’t fall and possibly hurt someone.

The camera and other electrical equipment need to be shielded if it does start to rain because they would get damaged and some sparks can be offset which can cause a lot of harm to anyone standing nearby.

Also, some people can be sensitive to flashing lights so it needs to be ensured the model doing the photo-shoot doesn’t suffer from this and is comfortable with having his/her picture taken.

In addition to this, the model may need to adopt certain positions to give a variety of photos that could possibly go on the cover, contents page or double page spread article. However, we need to make sure that the model is in sensible positions where the risk of hurting himself/herself is very minimal or essentially non-existent.

Lastly, props are often used and we need to be careful with the sort we use and the nature in which we use them. Typical props such as sunglasses and hats are okay and this doesn’t really apply to them but there are some props such as knives that may be used to create an intimidating look. However, these props need to be used with great care and sensibility.
