Music Video Analysis

This is the first shot of the video which appears to be a news clip. We can also hear a ‘breaking news’ type tune in the background. This is a good way to start the video as it makes the music video look important like it is breaking news itself. Through out the video we see various news clips, with some linking with the band playing or what the vocalist is singing.

This is an establishing shot of the complete band. This is significant because it is the first time we see the band all together. Also there are televisions in the background which link with the news clip ideas.

This is a close-up of the main person of the band, as he is the lead vocalist. These types of shots are put it in so we can see the star image, and see what there key features are, which would make them unique.

This is an example of one of the news clips that features in the music video. This is significant as this was something that actually happened in America, where Sick Puppies are now currently based. This would affect many of the American publics lives, and is a powerful clip to use.

This is another example of a news clip. This is also a really powerful clip to use as it is seems the sign is on about human rights. This is currently a big issue because in Yemen (Which is the flag in the corner of the sign) the laws and rights are not agreed with by the Yemen public.

This is another member of the band. This is a close up of her so we can yet again see features of her that makes her star image. Also, she is looking at the camera which gives the viewer the sense that she is making eye contact with you and, therefore, engaging with her audience.

This is a really important shot in the music video. This clip actually works very well with the structure if the song, as it is used when the bridge comes in, signifying a change. This also brings the fact that it is still a video based on the news.

This is a shot of a girl, which from my understanding is a victim of what is happening in the world, which is showed in the news, as clips like these feature throughout the video. These show the impact of the problems in todays society and world, through the facial expressions shown by these people.

This is the final shot of the video, and is a really significant one as it has the phrase ‘there is still hope’. This links to all the previous shots of news clips, and is saying that these problems throughout the world will be solved. The black and white background is significant to the use of news clips and television.
