Once upon a time, there lived a shy flamingo named Fred. Fred had a secret, that no one knew about him. He was tired of eating shrimp, flying around and just being the average flamingo. Fred wanted to race a go-kart. He had seen his brother and sister race, and when he asked to try it, they would just laugh.

His brother, Bob, would say,“You’re too young and stupid to race, you would not know which pedal is gas and which one is break.”

His sister, Pinkie, would say,“You barely like going outside, so why would we let you ride go-karts.” This made Fred sad so, every

night for a week he would go and use his dads old go-kart on the racing track, he loved to feel of the wind blowing through his

feathers. The next day Fred saw a poster that read....

Fred was so excited! But he could not tell anyone he was competing in the race, so he decided to wear a disguise for the race. At his house he looked in the attic, and found a

pink afro,“This will be perfect,” he said as he looked in the mirror,“No one will ever know its me.”

The day of the race Fred had butterflies in his stomach. As he was bringing his go-kart to the starting line he saw his brother and sister also at the line, he started to worry. But as he eased himself into the go-kart, he felt relaxed. He noticed that there were 13 other racers, 14 counting him.

“START YOUR ENGINES,” a voice boomed. Fred pulled the string that started the

engine. “ON YOUR MARK, GET SET,

GO!”

Fred pushed the gas, and zoomed of. He had already passed 10 cars, and they were yards behind him. In front of him were his brother and sister (who had agreed to split the prize), Billy (a school bully), and Carla (this loud and annoying girl). He had passed Carla, and once Carla was well behind him, he worked on Billy, weaving past him in seconds.

He was now nearing the finish line, the wind blew hard, the wind blew fast. Fred had already passed his brother, and the finish line was getting closer, He passed his sister, but right as he crossed the finish line his wig blew off. It was too late to grab it. His brother and sister had already saw that it was him.

Fred braced himself for what they were about to say, but to his surprise, Pinkie said, “OMG! Where did you learn to

race like that Fred?”Fred replied, “I....... I um practiced.”“Well you should have told us you can race

like that,” said Bob,Fred smiled.
