HOW TO DO A CHAPTER SUMMARY BIBLE STUDY

Three Easy Questions

Page 2: Revelation 8 chapter summary

Chapter Summary

Three Questions when you read the chapter you wish to study:

1. What does the chapter say?2. What does that mean – specifically – to me?3. What am I going to do about it?

Some add an optional memory verse as a part of the process to help them retain what God has said to them.

Revelation 8The seven angels that stand around the Throne:

Greek: “ton aggelos” – THE angels• implies the SAME angels that we have

seen before• THE seven Angels of the seven

churches• God’s people or their representatives

are involved in what happens on Earth

Revelation 8

The First Trumpet Judgement:

• Hail and fire mixed with blood• Is this literal or figurative? Don’t

know.• Result – 1/3 of the planet’s

habitable area and vegetation is struck

• Possible nuclear war? Don’t know.

Revelation 8

The Second Trumpet Judgement:

• Great burning mountain thrown into sea

• Possible meteor strike? Sure sounds like it!!!

• Result – 1/3 of the oceans die• Red Tide? Maybe – algae that

feed on dead creatures cause it, and 1/3 of them die in this event as well as 1/3 of the ships are destroyed.

• Shipping of goods greatly affected

Revelation 8

The Third Trumpet Judgement:

A great star fell from Heaven• Star named Wormood• Result – 1/3 of the fresh

water supply made undrinkable• Gk: “apsinthos” – similar

to Eastern European liquor Absinthe, known to be a poison in large quantities

• Absinthe has been called wormwood, even in the time of Jesus – He was offered wormwood on the cross and He refused it

Revelation 8

The Fourth Trumpet Judgement:

The celestial lights are darkened• Important Note: The lights

themselves are NOT darkened. Something in the sky (perhaps fallout from the other events, perhaps something in orbit (there is a physics argument for this) is responsible for this)

• Interesting – each light is seen for 1/3 less time. Are you getting the impression that there is a theme here? I am, and I have no idea what it means.

Woe! Woe! Woe!

An important thought – be ready! How do we prepare ourselves for this? Acts 2:42!

They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the

breaking of bread and to prayer.
