1. What gender are you?

Of the total 10 participants I got to fill out the questionnaire 6 were female and 4 were male.

I believe this is a varied enough proportion of participants gender to achieve unbiased results.

2. What age are you?

I made sure that there was a wide variation of ages between my participants because I wanted young peoples views since they were likely to be more my target audience but I also wanted some older participants data as I want my video to appeal to as many people as possible.

3. How often do you watch music videos?

It is obvious from these results that the majority of my participants would watch a music video at least once a week. This tells us that at the moment music videos are a very large part of their life and they have watched many videos so their data should be quite useful.

4. What devices do you most usually watch music videos on?

2 1There is a very diverse range of media platforms that my participants are using so I will not need to make any special adjustments to my video in order for it to suit a certain screen, but it must be viewable in many different technologies.

5. What is your favourite music genre?

It is clear from this graph that the majority of people I used in this questionnaire prefer Electro/Dubstep music and Pop music. Since my participants represent the greater public I will most likely chose a song from one of these categories to make a video as these are the two most popular.

The majority of people like Electro/Dubstep. And it is my own favourite music genre, so I will have most interest and experience in it. Both of these factors make it most likely that I will chose this genre out of the two most popular from the graph.

6. What type of music video do you like?In order for this question to be conclusive I showed each of my participants an example of conceptual, performance and narrative videos so they knew which each one was. The results here show that conceptual music videos are the most popular music videos to watch probably because they are interesting, unusual and keep the audiences attention.

7. What type of things do you like to see in a music video?

8. Do you prefer music videos in black and white or colour?

A huge preference for music videos in colour was found here. This was an especially useful result for me as I was having a difficult time deciding if my video should be black & white or colour. Now I know that to appeal to the wider audience a colour video would be best.

9. Do you like special effects and editing techniques used in music videos?

6 4

Although this is a positive result for using special effects and editing techniques the results are spread evenly enough for me to conclude that using them or not will not affect the videos appeal to the wider audience too much.

It is likely that I will use editing techniques in my video. One because using the software I have at school makes it easier and does make a hugely positive impact on my videos quality in my opinion, but also because it is still the most popular option in this questionnaire.

10. What is your favourite music video?• Thriller (Michael Jackson),• I Want to Break Free (Queen), • Black or White (Michael Jackson), • All About That Bass (Meghan Trainor), • Turn Down for What (DJ Snake), • Feel Good Inc. (Gorillaz), • Weapon of Choice (Fatboy Slim), • Paradise (Coldplay),• Eyes Wide Open (Gotye), • Counting Stars (OneRepublic)
