This is the digipak for ‘The Script’. I have decided to look at this digipak because of the iconic and eye-catching images on the front and the back of the CD case. The colours have been made to seem very bright and bold to make a statement and for people to be interested in the case.

This part of the digipak is the front cover of the box. The mise-en-scene involved shows and represents the band members to look ‘cool’ because of the location and clothing.

These are the names of the songs in which the album contains, and also are in the order of release, for example the first single they would of let out onto sale would be the one at the top of the list. The mise-en-scene of this is made to be small, and does not take over all of the cover, therefore the main focus is on the hands in the middle.

The colours on the CD tie in with what the band members are wearing and the colours in the background of the location – making it more eye catching and interesting to look at. The appropriate font has been used through the making of the digipak, but also the same font will have been used from when they first created the band, reflecting on the continuous running theme throughout.

This will be the company of the record labels logo. This needs to be shown throughout as they are the ones who are gaining money from it.

The unity of the picture on the front and the back of the case when you open up the digipak is interesting because on the front it shows two hands intertwined together, but in contrast with this the hands on the back don’t suggest togetherness, it could be representing the distance between two people, which then could be reflecting on the hidden messages we find in the album of music.

The name of the two artist are on the front of the page on one of the sides of the digipak. This is so that everyone purchasing the CD knows what they are buying. The digipak contains tracks that are included with the digipak also.

The colours involved have been specifically used for the chosen theme because they reflect on the theme of the two artists, and show some more about their personalities. The brown colours reflect on the idea of them being the stereotypical ‘folk rock’.

The digipak involves artwork inside, in which will have been taken specifically for the digipak and is there for interest of the audience, as they might want to look at some of the artists background and more information about their life and what they don’t put out to the public all the time.

The unity of the images has been done on purpose because we are able to see that the two images on the front and back correspond together. Although the CD’s themselves don’t correspond with the artwork on the front cover we still know they are related because of the continuous running theme throughout.

It think it is important for me to look at some of the existing digipaks of this band, considering the fact that I am basing my music video on one of their songs ‘Homeward Bound’. I think although I will not be stealing any ideas from the digipak, I will be able to take inspiration from the digipak and intertwine it into my own creation further down the line.

The mise-en-scene of the front cover suggests the two to be outgoing, as it looks like they are on a journey (which is reflected in the music), but they also look like happy people, which again reflects on their personalities.
