Abstract
English language is the national language in the world. People from
different countries from different nationalities can only understand each
other only by this language .In Oman, unfortunately many students face
difficulties to understand this language especially in grade eleven as they
establish new curriculum which is more complex and difficult from the
previous curriculum .In order to improve the students abilities and skills I
design special website for grade eleven to enhance their ability in English
language.

Introduction:
Students have great desire to learn English language as it is the second
language in Oman. Unfortunately, they face many drawbacks to learn this
vital language. In order to help them I design this website to learn English
language for grade eleven. This website gives the students the chance to
lean the rules of this language and the other skills of it .I collect different
sources that will be beneficial for students. Added that this website is not
for students only but also for teachers. There are also lessons plan and
strategies to deal with students who are weak in the fourth skills vital
role. This website plays vital role to enhance students' skills and let them
interact with each other. Actually, students need practice on the reading
and writing so I provide the website with worksheet on reading and
writing. This will give the students the opportunities in order to enhance
their reading. They can answer the questions and comprehend the task.
Besides, there is translator on this website so that the students can find
out any word that they don't know. In fact, this website is designed in
order to serve the educational process. It aims to contribute in building
the good base for students in order to acquire English language. This
website gives the students the chance to expand their knowledge and
interact with their teachers and ask about any questions that they do not
understand. This website will open the door for the students to enter
knowledge gate and expand their abilities and skills in the international
language which are required to get good job and get good education.

Needs:
This project will shed the light on students' need to improve their
skills in English. Students' level is very low in this subject. In spite of the
changed curriculums to provide the learners with best education, these
new curriculums do not focus in specific skills and they are too tuff
which mean that students randomly learn English. This website will be
the guide for teachers and students.
From Asia Bint Muzahim school (5-12), I interviewed an English
teacher who gave me a general view about the troubles that face the
students and the teachers in learning and teaching English. The teachers
don't find enough time to give students extra activities in class. In
addition, they are required to follow teachers' book and finish the
curriculum in certain time which lead most of teachers to ignore students'
need in specific skills. Some students; for example, are weak in grammar
while others in writing so the teacher live in dilemma without knowing
how to solve this problem. In addition to that they lose the validity in
teaching English. In other words, students must share the responsibility to
improve themselves in English.
'We really suffer' she added because students are careless and
convince themselves that English is very difficult. Furthermore, most of
the students heavily rely on mother-tongue which creates a trouble for
student and teacher. In her opinion, the best and easy way is to use the
internet which will contribute to improve students' level. As we know
most of the homes are provided with the internet nowadays. This website
will rescue most of the students and solve their problems in her
perception. 'I will tell you about my problem which is I can't find what I
want directly. I have to search a lot until I gain my goals. Most of English
websites are complex and have difficult tasks which I can not apply them
on my students."
Besides, there is a great gap between output of secondary school and
the majors in universities and colleges since they are taught in English.
Thus, I hope my website enhances students' levels and wide their
knowledge in English.
Target audience:
Grade 11 .
Teacher role:*Use the website which will provide them some lesson plane and will
give them some strategy to deal with students who have difficulties in the
fourth skills which is listening, writing, reading and speaking.
* Participate in the website with some reading texts and some listening
texts which enhance the students' ability in English Language.
*Explain some grammar rules that considered as very difficult rules for
students
*Answer the students' questions and comment on their notions about
learning English language.
*Highlight the most important information that is munched in English
language for grade 11.
*Make compaction for students & let answer the exercise that I put it in
the website.
*Answer the question that students ask about them in forum & participate
in it.
Student's role:
*Use this website to develop their skills in reading, writing, speaking and
listening.
* Read the lessons that I design in order to understand and get benefit
from.
* Evaluate their level in English and improve it through answering the
exercises which are provided with the answer keys.
*Ask teacher about difficult point that they don’t understand to make it
clear.
*Participate in forum and interact with other students.
*Add information, videos and lessons that the other students may benefit
from.
*Enjoy their time while using instructional games and puzzles.
Procedure:
# First I search about the problem that I will solve it in my graduation
project and I made an interview with teachers of English. They explain to
me the problems that they face in teaching English Language.
# Second, I distribute questineer by survey console websit for Asia bint
mazahim's students to know the level of English language.The link of

Also ,I interviewed five English teachers to ask them about student's level
in English Language and their opinion in using a website to teach English
language.
#Third, I started designing my website and lessons.
Fourth, I develop my website design and lessons. Also, I include some
exercise to know if the students understand or not.
Fifth, I implement my website in Asia bint Muzahim school(5-12) for one
and ahalf.Then , I distribute questioner for summative evaluation .The

Instructional design model:
I use ADDIE & Dick and kery model for designing and developing my
project that involve the following phases:
1. Analyze
2. Design
3. Develop
4. Implementation
5. Evaluation.
Analysis:
Goal: To raise the students' level in the fourth skills of English:speaking ,listening ,reading and writing.
*Objectives:These specific target learners need this website to be able to continue
their study in the future without facing any obstacle particularly if they go
aboard. Their based in English should be enhanced by intensive courses
in English which will be provided by this free educational website.
So, this website will help in the following:
1- Expand student’s knowledge of English language.
2- Focus student’s attention on the most important ways that help them to
improve their language.
3-Highlight the best ways of learning English.
4- Facilitate the rules of English language and focus on the easiest way to
learn English.
5- Clarify the rules of four skills.
6- Improve student’s skills.
7- Enrich students' vocabulary through reading various articles.
8- Encourage self-study and self-assessment through answering different
exercise and using the electronic feedback.
9- Improve four skills of the students in learning English.
10- Motivate students to develop a positive attitude towards learning
English by playing instructional games.
11- Interact with others though the forums.
12- Motivate teachers to use different tasks apt with students' levels.
* Issue
The curriculums of English are designed in the ways that get students'
attention to read various issues. The books are colorful and more
interesting than those for general. They content various topics and
attempt to cover the most important vocabulary related to those topics.
However, the majority of the students have obstacles to read, write or
speak English which reflects the reality of their levels.
* Current statusStudents in grade (11) face some obstacles in learning English as a
second language which is the most significant subject required to
complete the study after graduation from schools. It is the gate to enter
universities, colleges or even to go abroad. The problem is that students
do not have the good base to continue their study in the future. Most of
them have to take intensive courses post schools in order to be specialist
in their majors. There is no special website designed to for Omani
students in grade(11). In other words, students need to enrich their
knowledge in English. As a result of the technology revolution, Ministry
of Education attempts to digitalize its system. As we know this grade is
very vital in students' lives since it will insist to determine students' future
and from it students get diploma certificate. Thus I did a questionnaire
which students' answers reflect the importance of establishing English
website for grade 11.
* Desired statusStudents will have the chance to use website in their study life. They will
extent their knowledge using English language. They will also enrich
their vocabulary store. They will moreover solve most of their problems
dealing with their levels and well communicating with others.
*Expectation: I expect that the target learners will be able to listen and answer questions
and to read and answer comprehension questions easily in English
language. In addition, they expect to increase their ability of creativeness
in writing about any topic with less of boundaries.
*Motivation: To get the maximum limit of benefits from the website we have to use
some motivated ways in order to catch students' attention. I think the
designed of the website, the topic of articles and levels of the exercise can
be the most factors affecting students' motivation.
*User analysis:They are in their diploma degree in the schools (11). They are in different
levels in English language as a second language. They are taught this
language only five times weekly which reflects that they do not spend
plenty of times with this language. As a result, this website will give them
the chance to live in English world.
This website is targeted for students and teachers. Students are in grade
11. I have chosen specific target learners which are 30 students. I attempt
to deal with different levels of the students in this grade. Some of them
have ability to read simple texts, construct correct sentences and can get
the answers from listening to any text. If they have these basic skills to
use or communicate by English, the can eagerly use the website to
develop their skills step by step till they can use English fluently and
accurately. On the other hand, others lose these skills. Consequently, this
website will provide a section for those to start building their knowledge
correctly in English. From the questionnaire, I figure out most of students
have some problems in writing considered as the complex skill. Few of
the students do not know how to build a sentence correctly while some of
them have difficulties to differentiate between the four types of writing.
For example, some of them do not know that they have to use the past
simple tense in narrative or present simple and present continues in
describing the picture. This website will be as the grateful source for
them. I distribute Using questionnaire is the common way to evaluate
students' attitude towards English . Most of the Omani learners
particularly in inner places of Oman find difficulties to learn and gain
knowledge using the second language. 30 students from grade 11 from
Asia Bint Muzahim answered this questionnaire. From their answers, we
figure out that they face some difficulties in hearing, using, reading or
writing most of things in English. For example, nearly 60% of them can
not understand the tape script which leads them to lose the answers. Only
3 of them are excellent in listening while 12 students are weak and do not
accept the listening as skill that they have to improve it from my
observation.
Closely to the above percent 65% find difficulties to answer reading
questions while 70% of them are weak in understanding the texts because
of the new vocabulary. This reflects that the students who misunderstood
the reading questions are the same who can not get the correct answers
from the listening tape script, 13:12 students.
There are some students who can not even write correct simple sentence
with correct order (subject+ verb+ object...). They are 89.4% who feel
that writing is the difficult skill that they face in learning English. In my
opinion, this is because students can not distinguish between some types
of writing like narrative and descriptive.
Only 5 students feel they are excellent in speaking while 17 students can
not speak fluently and they always use the first language to communicate
with others even in English lessons. This huge number of the students
among 21 students answering this questionnaire reflects that 89.4% have
to improve their skills in speaking.
On the other hand, most of them can deal with the computer since they
have the basic computer skills.
From this data analysis we figure out that:
1- most of the students fed up because they think that they can not
improve their skills in English because they feel the teachers ( the
main guide for them) do not have time to give them extra exercise
and motivate them to improve themselves in English.
2- Around 13 students find difficulties in every skill in English because
from their answers they always answer "I am not good in English:
speaking, reading, writing and listening.
The teachers also have good chances to improve their skills dealing with students. Since most of the teachers have problems to deal with some situation that happen in the class. So, this website will provide some lessons(teaching strategies) improving teachers' skills in teaching reading, writing, listening and speaking. I mean that the teachers will gain some
enjoyable ways that may motivate the students to participate during the lesson eagerly. In addition, it will include some guidelines for the teachers how to deal with the students correctly in different situations such as how to deal with diversity. That mean, students have different levels of ability and this website will guide the teachers how to deal with them in a way which will give the students equal opportunity to improve their skills.In addition,I interview five teachers and I ask them the following questions:
Are you with or against learning by the internet?
Most of the teachers assure that they encourage learning English
Language by the internet. They say that the internet is useful instructional
tool that enhance students' learning.
Some of the teachers are against the teaching by internet. They are
consuming time.
Do you think English language can be learned by the internet?
Most of the teachers assert that English language can be learned by the
internet. The internet helps students in enhancing their language.
Do you encourage your students to use the internet?
Most of the teachers say that they direct their students to the
importance of the internet in learning English language.
Does it happen that you encourage your students to interact with
electronic website?
Most of the teachers assert that they always tell their students about
electronic website and encourage them to interact on them.
What are the most important skills that we should focus on?
Most of the teachers assert that writing is the most important skills that all
the students need to focus on. Most of the students find difficulties to
write about topics and they have a lot of grammatical mistakes .So that it
is very important to focus on writing,
What are the most important problems that face students in English
language? Students find difficulties are how to write a topic in English
language. They can not follow the grammar rules and avoid spelling
mistakes.
Do you want to have only lessons about the curriculum or it for English
language in general?
Of course it should be out from the curriculum because the exam is
testing the English skills in general .So it should be general topics and
general skills.
What are the best ways to learn English language?
I think reading English books is very useful. Besides, watching English
films and programme are very important. Also, Websites that teach
English language is very useful. So that, the students can learn from
them.
Analysis of performance context:
Managerial or supervisor support:
Using Internet is an effective way to reach to the large number of the
students. It will motivate student- confidence and self-study.
This website is the main step to introduce English in a good way for the
students to keen on.
Physical aspects of the site:
The website will introduce various aspects related to English for grade11.
As we know English is the main and first language globally that you can
use it to communicate easily with others from any part around the world.
Students need to learn this language to complete their studies after they
get high marks.
Social aspects of the site:
Everyone can use this site to improve one's self in speaking English and
enrich their knowledge through other skills (reading, writing and
listening.)
Analysis of learning context:
Number/nature of sites:
Number: This site will be applied for 30 students from grade 11 in Asia
Bint Muzahim BS(5-12).
Equipment: The equipment that you need to use this site are computer or
laptop, internet, Microsoft office word(2003 or2007), power point
program(2003 or 2007), adobe reader, software to play audio and
software to play video (in listening and speaking) and software flash to
play interesting games.
Resources: This project need:
1- Assistance from technicians at SQU to help me designing the website,
lessons, and the forum.
2- Some specialist teachers (English teachers) to check the lessons and
help me to choose the lessons and correct any mistake that I may occur
in.
Constraints:
The constraint that may face:
*huge gaps between students' levels:
This problem may occur because of the difference levels of the students:
excellent, average and weak. I have to balance between these three levels
so I have to be careful when choosing the exercise.
*Lack of time:
This is the most crisis that may I face because I have to do a lot of things
in every week but may sometimes some of the work delay to other weeks
because of some problems may occurred during establishing the website.
As a result, I will do my best and work in day and night to finish it In
shaa Allah and submit it before the deadline.
Environment Analysis:
This website is designed by using the software which are Photoshop and
front page, PowerPoint and word. Around 30 students will use it in Asia
Bint Muzahim Basic School (5-12) since this school has two computer
labs connected to Internet. As a result, we can apply this website on these
large numbers of the students at the same time.
Design phase:
This website aims to enhance students' ability in English language
especially in the fourth skills. This website is designed for grade eleven
as the students demand to have special website to expand their knowelge
in this language. It has four skills: listening, reading, writing and
speaking .Besides, there are many lessons that are explained for the
students. I choose the lessons and explain the main points on
them .Added that, the website include a variety of exercise and exams
that aim to provide the students with good background about the exams of
English language. Besides, the exams that are provided are not only from
Omani curriculum but from other countries like United Arab Emirates.
This is because when I interview the English teachers they told me that
the exams are not from the curriculum but its general information about
English language. The teachers tell me that the exercise should be out
from the book and general topic because the exams are not from the
curriculum writing section include tips on grammar in order to direct
students ' attention to the important rules that they should be included in
their sentences. There is a section for teachers in order to guide them to
the best ways to deal with students in order to help them to solve the
problems with weak students.
There is also lessons plan and strategies that will be beneficial for
those teachers. In order to make students enjoy this site I provide the
website with some instructional games that are beneficial to learn English
language. Also, there are puzzles and proverbs that the students are
interested in. Added that, there are poems that help students to know how
to write poems as they are demanded to write poems in grade eleven in
the curriculum. There is translator in the website in order to help students
to expand their vocabulary. This translator is called Oxford. I save the
translator and the students should install it in their computer to use it in
any time. There is forum for students and teachers in order to interact
with each other and exchange their information. The teacher can answer
the students' questions through this forum. There is also contact us in
order to develop this website.

Development:
In this stage I start planning for the website appearance .first, I organized my plan to do this project so I gathered some lessons for different four skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening). Then, I started to gather the text information, pictures, exercise and exams. After that, I summarized the content to make it more easily and understood.Then, I researched for some teaching ways to enhance students' level in learning English language, so the teachers can use them in their teaching. Also, I gave the teachers some lessons to be good teachers. Moreover, I tried hard to make the websites more enjoyable to make fun and the students don’t get boring, so I added some entertainment such as, instructional games, poems, puzzles and translators. By this way students will gain the knowledge and have fun in both times. In addition, I made this forum to make discussion between students them selves and their teachers. As a result, the students will find the answers of their questions and the teachers will add their advice. To develop my websites, I decided to lit students and the teachers give me their opinions and suggestions by contact me through the specific section which is "contact us".
Implementation phase:
I implement this website in Asia bint muzahim school (5-12).They use it
for one half a weeks .The number of students was 30 .They interactive
effectively and they use forum to discuss. They study from my lessons
and answer the exercise. Also, I give the students the link of forum to
interact in it. The link of forum is fourskills.ahalamontada.net.Thier
interaction was every effective.
Evaluation phase:
I have two evaluation which is formative evaluation & summative
evaluation.
Formative Evaluation:
Experts:
Before starting establish website, I show my website to three teachers
who has seven & eight years experience in English Language . The
experts observe the website, lessons and worksheets .They evaluate my
website & lessons that I do in speaking, listening, reading and writing .act
the students in grade eleven. They tell me that the idea of the website is
very fantastic because this website encourages them to enhance their
ability and skills in English language. They admire the website and its
color as it attract they admire the worksheets and the lessons as they tell
me that they suit students level .But ,they ask me to delete some
worksheets that is above the students level. So, I delete those worksheets
and I add more and more worksheets that suit students level .I did a lot of
icons for the worksheets and the lessons so they told me to reduce their
number to attract the students and to be more arrange. Also, they told me
to put answer keys in order to help the students to get the correct the
answer.
Learner:One-on-one:I Interview the learners after giving them the website and ask them some
questions about the website, lessons & worksheet.
The question of my interview is:
1- What are the things that attract you & you want to be in this lesson?
2- Do you think this website will enhance your ability & skills in English
Language?
3- Do you think this worksheets and lessons are suitable for your age?
4- Do you find any difficulties in using this website?
5- What are the things that are not clear?
In addition, I make observation when the students use the website to
recognize the most things that the students are interested in and what are
the difficulties that students face when they use it.
Small group:I Interview the group of learners after giving them the website and ask
them some question about the website, lessons &worksheet.
The question of my interview is:
1- What are the things that attract you & you want to be in this lesson?
2- Do you think this website will enhance your ability & skills in English
Language?
3- Do you think this worksheets and lessons are suitable for your age?
4- Do you find any difficulties in using this website?
5- What are the things that are not clear?
In addition, I make observation when the students use the website to
recognize the most things that the students are interested in and what are
the difficulties that students face when they use it. I notice that the
important things that attract them is Instructional games and the section
that they didn't use it a lot is the excise.
Summative Evaluation:
I make questioner to know the opinion of students in my website. Also, I visit a school of girls which is Asia Bint Muzahem and I have observation. I saw how the students interact with the content and exersise. Sometimes, I saw the group of students set together and answer the questions. So, through this interaction, the students exchange their information. In addition, I distribute questioner among students .I used survey console to answer my survey online. The number of student's
answer this questioner was 7 students. From these results we can figure out that:1- Most of the students are satisfied with the website. The colure and the organization of the icons play their vital roles to attract students' attention.
2- Students get some benefit from the website and this is because most of them agree that they love this website since it is useful. I am cheerful because the main goal from establishing this website is achieved and the main point that I have to clarify that this website is only works as a helper for the teacher but the teacher is always play the main role in student's life and learning process.In addition, the students have a good interaction in a forum the number of members in the forum is 23.This forum is to English teachers and students who want to develop themselves in English language. The way of their participate by asking teachers some questions and they answer their questions.
