Comenius Project A united Eco Journey through Europe to the Future 2013-15
How is produced the energy that circulates in Italy?
From the most influential source to the least influential
one, we have:
26.6% from hydropower
23.2% from gas-fired plants
17.5% from solar power plants
8.7% from coal plants
8.6% by wind farms
2.3% from geothermal power plants
1.7% from storage in reservoirs
11.2% from other sources unspecified
On the first place remains hydropower, which is a renewable
resource, with over a quarter of the energy produced.
In second place is the Gas, with just under a quarter of the
energy produced.
In third place we can see photovoltaics, which represents
almost one-fifth of the entire production.
Summing renewable sources, that is: hydroelectric, solar, wind
and geothermal, we get about 55% of electricity production.
According to the report of Legambiente “Renewable Municipalities 2014”,
realized with the help of the GSE and presented at the Solarexpo, "renewables
are present in all the 8054 Italian municipalities. In 2013, in fact, increased the
spread for all sources - solar PV, heat, geothermal energy, hydro, biomass and
biogas installations integrated with district heating networks and heat pumps -
and the installations are now more than 700 thousand spread in 100% of
municipalities in Italy: a system which last year produced a record $ 104 TWh
and guaranteed 32.9% of electricity consumption in the country and 15% of
the total. "
The numbers in the report are really
impressive:
2,629 municipalities in Italy are autonomous
with respect to power consumption, and 79
compared to thermal families needs thanks to
production from renewable sources, 29
municipalities are 100% renewable.
The award Renewable Municipalities 2014 goes to the group "The Primiero" 8 Municipalities
of the Valleys of Primiero and Vanoi, in the Province of Trento, an area with more than 10
thousand inhabitants that through a mix of five different technologies cover all requirements
and thermal electric of Commons.
The Good Practice Award for Renewable Municipalities 2014 goes to the Community Wind
Farm Rivoli Veronese (VR) for the realization of one of the most interesting wind farms in
Italy, built in an area on Mount Mesa protected for the habitat of dry meadows and
orchids, with four wind turbines of 2 MW each, and that meets the needs of about 5,000
families.
A Good Practice Award goes to the City of Albino (BG), that with an investment of 1.6
million euro, has installed 552 kW of photovoltaic solar panels. Awarded, for good
practice, even the City of Maiolati Spontini (AN) that has transformed a landfill for
municipal solid waste and special denials from industrial processes, in a "small energy
hub" thanks to the presence of two biogas for a total of 4.2 MW of power, capable of
producing about 17 million kWh / year of electricity, equivalent to the needs of about
4,000 families each year.
