DESCRIPTION
After teaching Spanish community service learning since 2004, I offer six reflections on the teaching of immigration in Spanish courses. Many Spanish courses teach something about immigration, often through literary or film representations of the immigrant experience; however, my experience has been that students come to CSL courses with partial and often incorrect ideas about immigration. I offer these reflections as suggestions about both what and how we can teach about immigration in Spanish courses. Go to this link to hear my 5-minute screencast where I offer more detail about these slides: http://screencast.com/t/40GLn5hqGlGc.
