Recycling in Antiquity -I-

of objects which no longer serve the original purpose for which they were constructed.
People, thus, spared time, energy and money.

BROKEN GLASS
Broken glass vessels were collected and melted down to produce new glass
Whilst still molten, glass can be manipulated and is suitable for reuse. In ancient times it was reused to make jewelry, vases and other objects
CERAMICS ceramics were reused, in whole or in
pieces, in a lot of ways
If a vessel was considered repairable after rupture, they agglutinated it using lead connectors

Amphora from Ancient Greece
An amphora (meaning "two-handled carrier" in Greek) is a terracota container used to store liquids (like oil or wine); amphorae have two handles, usually located towards the top of the pot. Terracotta is a reddish-colored clay.
Fragments of household pottery, both painted and coarse wares, were used variously
to send messages or make lists
for writing practice
