This seminar session will give participants an insight into emerging evidence of new approaches to the non surgical management of rectal cancer – rather than radical surgery can patients avoid or delay radical surgery?
Professor David Sebag-MontefioreDavid Sebag-Montefiore is the Audrey and Stanley Burton Professor of Clinical Oncology at the University of Leeds and Honorary Consultant at Leeds Cancer Centre.
His research interests include clinical trials and radiotherapy research with a focus on gastrointestinal cancers. He is the Chief Investigator of the CR07 and ARISTOTLE trials and co-lead for the ACT2, STAR TREC and PLATO trials. He is a member of the NCRI Colorectal study group, its anorectal subgroup and is Vice Chair of the NCRI CTRad group. He was Chair of Cancer Research UK’s Clinical Trial Awards and Advisory Committee 2011-2014.
He has over 80 peer reviewed publications including high impact outputs in Lancet, Lancet Oncology and JCO. He teaches on the Sheffield Part II FRCR course and at the European School of Oncology Masterclasses. He leads the Leeds Radiotherapy Research Group focusing on radiotherapy research that improves patient outcomes.
