HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADDRESS YOUR AUDIENCE?

I have used different types of forms and conventions to attract my audience. Some of these examples are, the images used. The main image used on the front is an image of the artists I used as my main feature. The way they attract the audience to the magazine, they make eye contact with the viewer; this is by the angle the image was taken from. Another example of the type of forms and conventions used within the magazine is the use of language. For example by using the word “you”, it will attract the viewer by making them think the magazine is focusing on the specific target audience I chose. Also it will make then read more due to the use of pronouns used. Furthermore by adding a little introduction on the Contents page written by me, supposing to be the editor of the magazine. By doing this it makes the viewer more involved in the magazine, by me introducing them to the magazine and giving them a quick inside glance of what they will except to see. By doing this they will want to continue reading to find out the full information given inside the magazine.

In addition to this the colours used within my magazine will also attract the audience, this is because from creating my online survey it gave me an inside look on what my specific target audience was looking for. I took my inspiration for colours from magazines such as: Kerrang, NME and Q. Therefore because my audience are attracted to the real media already out there, that is why I took my idea for the type of colours to use within my magazine, because I knew my audience will notice the colours and also be interested because it looks similar to the real media. Furthermore the type of fonts I used within the magazine will also attract the audience because it is bold and also written in bright colours so it will stand out from the background image used of the feature artists. Also the images used at the bottom of the front cover will attract my audience due to they are poster of a real band called Twin Atlantic which fits in with the genre of music magazine I have produced. On the contents page the way I attracted my audience was with the social media sites being advertised on the right hand side of the page for my target audience to either like or follow. I have done this because the majority maybe all of my target audience will have some sort of social media account, therefore they can stay up to date with all the information online at all times. Furthermore the competition section at the bottom is related to the main article about “Ocean Divide”. By doing this the audience who are interested in the main article will then also enter the competition to win the prize. Also the prize will

also attract the audience to enter because the prize is “Win 2 festival tickets of your choice” I chose to do this because the age my target audience are, they will either be the age where they start going to festivals or the age where they have been to many festivals and they want to have the chance to go to more. Furthermore the content written is showing the audience what is inside the magazine. Some examples of this, is different articles, I have also included real bands within my magazine, and also fun interactive articles which the audience can get involved in. for example, “VIWERS REACTIONS (HORROR TIME) and also QUIZ TIME”.

Lastly the double page spread will also attract the audience by the bold text used for the title, and also the colours used within title. Also by taking a quote from the article and placing it in bold letters, will make the audience want to read the article and to fins out what they mean and what the question was which was asked during the interview. In addition to this the side interview which brings in their fans and their own questions. This will also attract the audience to see how the band responds to their fans questions and what their fans want to know about them.
