of real media products?

Page 2: Question 1

My media product uses the conventions of a music video in terms of camera shots as I used a range of different types, ie long shots to establish the scene, mid shots to show the character and their surroundings and close up shots to depict the emotions on his face as well as allowing for lip syncing. Camera movement is also important as it allows me to follow the character, and I have included a range of pans and zooms to add to the fluency of the narrative.

In terms of the Mise en scene I have also followed conventions and developed them as despite the mood being very low, I have presented my character in normal costumes as opposed to dark ones to highlight the fact that it is just every day life. Furthermore, I have used fairly low key lighting to reflect the mood but I have again tried to keep it quite natural in the most part. The black and white effects have been added to the parts in which he is feeling suicidal, this makes it more powerful to the viewer and it helps them to acknowledge and relate to the seriousness of the situation. In regards to the mise en scene, I also pictured the character alone in various scenes which again allowed the audience to sympathise with his situation.

The editing in which I have used has also used the typical conventions as I have encompassed a range of fades and dissolves which allow cuts to be slow, reflecting the slow pace of the song and the low mood. I decided to opt against using traditional cuts as they don’t fit in with my narrative due to them being too quick.
