Q4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Throughout the duration of this coursework piece and all its elements, multiple media technologies have been used to help me present my work for a clear and appealing final look.

BloggerI used blogger as a way to keep all of my work in an organised and neat way of presentation that was easy to used and easily accessible to keep track of my work.

It allows for all types of medias to be posted up which meant that I could use a variety of technologies for my coursework to help keep it interesting.

iMovieI used iMovie in order to create the trailer for the horror film as it allowed for more in depth editing within its programme.

This allowed for a more professional and sophisticated look than windows live movie maker could offer.

By using this programme to create the trailer and edit the footage it meant that editing could only be done when the member of our group with a mac was available. This also meant that there were some difficulties with compatibility with windows laptops for evaluating, however these were quickly sorted.

WIX website designerWIX is a free, online website designer that I used to create the horror film homepage. The software allows for a whole website to be created which meant that all of the links could work out of the homepage as it would for a real website.

Using this to create the website allowed for plenty of options to create the site and also allowed for multimedia posting. Meaning that sound could be added to my website as well as images and film to make it more appealing to the target audience as well as following typical conventions.

It was easy to use and also gave a professional look to the final product.

Microsoft PublisherMicrosoft Office Publisher was used to create the horror movie poster as part of the advertising for a potential ‘film’. It was used because of its simplicity and ease of use and it was also a good way to keep everything together that was needed for creation of the poster.

The tools offered inside of the programme were plentiful to help to make the poster and it gave a professional look to the final product.

PhotoshopDuring the creation of the poster and the website a main image was needed to be created to help with the advertisement. I used this programme to edit the images to the best standard possible and allowed me to combine the three separate images into one main image.

This programme allowed the images to appear better to the target audience and to again give a more professional look to the final products.

1001 fonts1001 fonts is a website online that offers a range of different fonts that can be used for free. The fonts have a professional look and help to make the products look more appealing to the target audience.

The site is easy to use to get hold of the fonts and offers a wide range to suit any themes.

Survey monkeySurvey monkey was used as a way of finding out the views of the target audience to ensure that the main product being created (the Horror movie trailer) would suit the wants of the target audience.

The site allows for any number of questions to be asked and is easy to used to gain information from the target audience as the link can be shared with a target audience specific group of people.

This site also shows the answers in a clear and orderly way to view the information collected more easily and in a more interesting way (eg. Graphs and pie charts)

Windows Live Movie MakerI used windows live movie maker mainly in the evaluation part of my coursework to make it more interesting and appealing.

The programme allowed for my to present my work in both an audio and visual way and allowed me to edit these together.

PreziPrezi is an online site that I used throughout this coursework piece to help me to present information in a clear and interesting way.

It has multimedia uses and allowed me to present photos and videos as well as text.

Its gives a final product of a presentation which allows for my information to be orderly and neat and to make sense as the presentation carries out.

Slide share and Microsoft PowerPointI used Slide share and PowerPoint in a combination throughout my coursework to logically present information in a more interesting way.

PowerPoint allows for different themes to be shown and allows for videos and photos as well as text to be presented.

Slide share is used in the final stages to allow the work to be uploaded to the internet so that the work can be added on to the blog with the rest of my work.

TinyTakeTinyTake is screen capturing software that enables me to explain my points in the evaluation stages better while showing these points on the computer screen at the same time.

The programme is easy to use and is a good way to present work in a more interesting way by using audio and visual aids.

A good quality microphone is needed to make the audio clear and some background noises can be picked up, however with the right equipment it is of high quality and either way allows for points to be explained more easily.
