How did you use new media technologies in the construction and

research, planning and evaluation stages?

Planning and Research..n The main part of my planning and research included having a blog

where i would regularly update it, posting all the work contributing to my coursework. I recorded my ideas such as shotlists, my original thoughts and ideas, digipack analysis’ and many more. Anything that had to be changed during the process were also recorded here. With the use of a blog it enabled me to keep up to date with all my work, and read it all clearly, knowing what work had been done already. The blogging site which i used was wordpress.com, and i have included a print screen of my blog itself.

n Within my blog i had to present my work in a variety of different ways. This was done so that my blog appeared more interesting and creative, in order to do this i used powerpoint, where i embedded them into the blog, i also used alot of images so that my blog wasn’t full of writing.

n Youtube was vital within my planning and research for my ancillary tasks. It enabled me to look at existing music videos within the same genre, helping me to come up with my chosen song, and a plan for what to contain within my music video, and also the forms and conventions there are within music videos.

n Google also helped me to look at existing products, such as digipacks. I was able to look at similar artists real media products so that i could find out the forms and conventions of these and get ideas for how i wanted my product to look.

Ancillary Tasks..

n My ancillary tasks consisted of designing and making a digipack, and also a music video to a song of my choice.

n Within my filming i used a video camera in order to get the footage i needed, this camera was provided by the school and was a HDR- CX115E Sony. Which is shown to the right.. I also used an additional camera in order to take the still images which were used within my music video. Within the filming process we used a tri-pod in order to hold the camera, this meant that we could hold the camera at different angles to have additional camera shots within the music video.

n In order to make my digipack i used a camera to take the images, i then took these and edited them from what they looked like originally using Photoshop. Photoshop was used in order to make my entire digipack, i could adjust the page to the size i needed, and then reduce the image size to fit in within this. It meant i could add additional things to the cover, such as writing and the colouring and the size of the images.

Music Video..

nIn order to edit my music video i used an Apple MAC, with the software iMovie, which was provided by the school. This software provided us with a wide range of features, such as precision editing, inputting text and transitions, Etc..

nUsing precision editing meant that when adding in transitions and cuts they were placed on the music beat, providing a good relationship between the music and visuals.

nThere was also the option to edit the effect of the image, i used this within my work, for example within my story, the clips were black and white. I used an additional affect for my performance, i feel that this made the picture clearer, and made it look more appealing and professional.

Music Video..

n Here is how i was able to edit the effect of the clip. I was also able to smooth the clip motion if the original footage was too jerky.

n There is also an audio part where i took the sound out from the original footage so that there was no background noise.

Evaluation..

n Within my evaluation questions i used powerpoint and word, using alot of images in order to present my work. In order to make my powerpoint more appealing i also used Prezzi.com as this was a more creative way of presenting work.

n With the use of images it makes the work look more appealing and it gives you something to look at instead of just essays of writing.
