Let’s know about …..

Vincent Van Gogh, was born the 30th of March of 1853 in Zundert (Holand).

He died in Auvers-Sur-Oise city in 1890 (France).

Biography

Vincent liked to be alone when he was a kid, so he missed school a lot.His parents sent him to a boarding school until he left his studies at the age of 15.

«My childness was sad, cold and poor... » Said Vincent.

Since he was very young he demostrate a dificult personality and a strong temperament. This

characteristic made him changeable.

In1869, he could start working in an Art Galery called La Haia. He felt so good.

In 1873, they propose him to move to London. He felt in love with Úrsula, the daughter’s owner where he was staying. He was refused by her.

He had to move to the Paris agency after that. His love for Art increased. He fancied a lot Millet works.

In 1880 he stayed in Brussel·les and he became a friendship with a painter called Anthon von Rappard. He enroled in Belles Arts Academy where he studied pictures and perspective.

In La Haia, Van Gogh had a cosin who was a watercolors painter, Anton Mauve. He assessed Vincent a lot.

His first watercolor works were related to the death natures. He used dark and sad colors.

In december 1883 he came back with his parents, in Nuenen. He had a room to work there.In that period he used to draw and paint weavers.

In 1885 he painted 3 great works: The potatoes eaters is one of the most famous.

In November 1885 he arrived to Anvers, where he rent a small studio which was paid by his brother.He bought some Japanese xilographies.

In 1886 he went to Paris to live with his brotherTheo.

He was inspired by the colors of impressionism, by the painters that he met in an Academy and also by his brother who knew some other painters. One example is Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

In Paris Van Gogh got, with the help of Toulose-Lautrec, the renovation of his works in the

portrait.

In this period of time he discovered the complementary contrast.He contrasted the three primary colors (yellow, red and blue) with the mixture made by some other two, such the combination red-green, yellow-violet and blue-orange.

In 1888 he went to Paris and he moved to Arles. First in a room that was on top of a Restaurant. He painted anything he could see.

In this period he started to use wavy paints and also intensive yellows, greens and blues.
