Publication Plan Declan Cook

Title: Slapback with Nina bold font

Price: The price of the publication will be £3.40 as from the results of my target audience questionnaire people said they would be happy to pay £3-£5 for a magazine and by setting the magazine at the lower quartile of that mean people would be more likely to buy it and yet i still would be making profit.

Frequency Of Publication: The publication will be printed once a week as this is enough time for new bands to emerge and for news in the music industry to travel so I can write about it.

Distribution: The magazine will be sold in a variety of places including large supermarkets (Asda,Morrisons,Sainsbury's), Music Shops (Dawson's,PMT,HMV) and other local corner stores (One stop, Spar). By putting them in all these different kinds of stores it opens up my sales by allowing my target audience, secondary audience and tertiary audience to have access to the magazine with ease without having to go out of their way to find it as as a whole most audiences are lazy.

Rationale: I will address the readers as ‘readers’ as it includes a personal touch as i would be breaking the fourth wall but not singling anyone out. This is similar to the way kerrang addresses their audience and readers. The purpose of my magazine is to entertain them and to inform the readers of new upcoming indie bands and other such news involving the music industry such as band signing or band break ups and as there is an issue each will the readers will come back as it will be up to date information and long enough that they get every bit of necessary information for that week.

Style: When writing my magazine I will be using an informal tone with my readers so they feel more of a connection rather than as if they were talking to a mass printing corporate company. They will feel more connected and not as if they are just profit therefore keeping them coming back to the magazine. I will be using a small amount of slang there still has to be professionalism behind the words and not just writing what you want. I will also be using music jargon as the main target audience i will be looking at is people who have an interest or some connection to the music industry. The balance of text to images will be around 55% images too 45% text as this keeps a fairly good balance and readers will be attracted to the page because of the images and not put off by the amount of text however it still contains the right amount for me to be able to include all the necessary information.

Regular Content: 1. An advertisement for Music Festivals and guitar shops such as PMT as most people

reading this magazine will be interested in music wares and would be interested in deals and discounts for these shops.

2. Competitions for things such as T-Shirts and Guitars. Occasionally this competition will involve a famous figures band merchandise, Zach Linds drumsticks.

3. Upcoming music will include songs and albums that aren’t necessarily pop music and therefore not featured on the radio. Most of the music will be aimed at indie rock as that is the genre of the magazine.

4. It will also include things concerning teenagers within the music industry for anyone who cares, Job’s available and trips to recording studios and record companies.

5. Band photos will consist of new bands in the media and older or more famous bands together and separate this means the magazine has variety and people will be surprised at the photos every week. 4 double sided poster pages and one large double page spread poster.

6. Band signings 7. Band BreakUps 8. Love life of bands 9. New studios opening in different areas
