Computer models are used as predictions, especially in weather forecast. Computers can predict a hurricanes path and estimated time of arrival. Computer models can warn of an approaching disasters before it is to late. Unlike earthquakes, most hurricanes can be predicted way before they happen.

Computer models of hurricanes can give more than just the time of arrival or the path of destruction. They also estimate the strength( wind and pressure) so people know what exactly they should prepare for. Meteorologist advise people to prepare for a hurricane stronger than forecast in case of a margin of error. As with hurricane Katrina, thousands of people were saved by a computer model.

Acceleration is a change of speed. As in figure 1, we see that the acceleration changes at the peak and the trough of the bounce. Slowly the ball slows down until it comes to rest. At the peak, it changes from a steady speed to a slow pause and then speeds up again(same for the trough).

The poem starts talking about how small we as a planet are compared to this huge universe. We read how important the sun is to Earth. We read how perfect the universe is. The poem explains how precious the world is and how it all appears. It list the Grand Canyon, the Danube, and Mount Fuji. The poem says that in all in this splendor, we still are not the most wonderful wonder.

The mythical penny drop is sadly impossible. Everything has a terminal velocity. It is the maximum speed a falling object can reach based on the objects weight and air resistance. The fact is that no matter how high you drop a penny, it will not have a lethal force.

Though many test have been conducted, many people still believe in the idea that a tall building and a small penny are a recipe for disaster. The fact that pennies un-aerodynamic design slow it. However if you drop something like a pen that has a sleek aerodynamic shape it may reach high deadly speeds.

First you want to align yourself with the ball carrier. This will give you a territorial advantage. Drive your feet and stay low and tight to have a more wrecking ball affect. Once you have achieved all of the simple parts, then get ready to start using science.

First law of motion states that an object in motion remains in motion until another force acts upon it. The faster you are moving the faster your mass is moving causing a harder hit. Timothy Gay says if a 199 pound player hitting someone going 4.56 seconds in 40-yards could produce a 1600 pounds of momentum. In baseball swinging the bat while twisting your hips causes more speed then in turn causing more momentum. When in basketball or volleyball the faster you run the higher the momentum will carry you to dunk or spike since you push on the ground, the ground pushes back with an equal force.

Sound Energy is simply the vibrations made as sound travels through a room. Sound is an example of mechanical energy. Mechanical energy strictly concerns potential and kinetic energy. Sound energy is measured in decibels.10 decibels equal 1 Bel.

Proof that sound is energy is that a Pascal can equal a decibel. Sound can cause health problems if it excides 100 or more decibels. SONAR is using sound waves to hit the ocean floor and using the waves that bounce back to set points of elevation. The faster they bounce back, the higher the point.

Some people theorize that there was an ancient city of extreme technology and higher level

civilization. My conclusion is that it is nothing more than a story. Unlike most fables like bigfoot or

the lockness monster, this story was first convinced by a source well known. The mystical land of

Atlantis is a story written by Plato to be part of a trilogy, a trilogy that was never completed.

Atlantis has been around for centuries, it even dates before the ark. We found the ark, but

we have yet to find any signs of Atlantis. It was nothing more than the imagination of a writer.

C.S.Lewis’ Narnia is a lost world, so the only difference is hundreds of years.REFERANCE: http://www.angelfire.com/ri/allfantasy/atlantis.html

There are 4 types of gears. There are the bevel, the helical, planetary, and worm gears. These gears make jobs easier. The bevel gear is basically used when you want to change the direction of a shafts rotation. Helical is a gear that’s teeth can turn and complete a rotation by changing one tooth to the next. Worm gears can rotate large gears to small or large gears to small gears. Planetary combines all gears to make basically a solar system.

Gears make it easier by distributing work between them. The gears are much like a pulley system in the fact that the more you have the easier it is to use. By making work easier, we can use less energy. The less energy we use doing a specific job, then the more work we can do by distributing energy equally.

The digital thermometer takes oral readings of ones temperature.

To take a proper reading one must place the tip of the thermometer

under the tongue. Then wait for a beep patiently, and remove to

read what the temperature is

The thermometer works because of thermal energy transferring

from the colder metal tip that warms up and sends the information

to the computer. The sensor is under the metal tip. It takes a while

to reach the proper reading as the tip warms.

The equator warms since the sun shines at that belt. The lands surrounding the equator is either a desert or a rain forest. The warm airs from the African deserts mix with the cool water of Atlantic ocean to form hurricanes. Northern parts are to cold for deserts and rainforest.

If one thing was out of place we would experience weather catastrophes across the world. Nature has balanced itself so perfectly that any change could effect our normal weather pattern. If the north gets to warm we would experience cold water and rises in sea level. If the south gets to cold we would experience an ice age.

Igloos are actually extremely effective at keeping it 40 degrees warmer than the temperatures outside. In order to build a good igloo one must use snow that is tightly compacted. Snow is known as a good insulator. They are such good insulators because the air pockets use are bad conductors so there cannot be a convection current.

The shear wall will protect you from the harsh winds that make it feel colder than it really is. The walls also keep the cold out and keep the body warmth inside. Sort of like turning on a heater then closing all the doors. Once the sun melts the snow slightly, it freezes and becomes structurally sound and also makes it warmer by eliminating cracks.

To most people, humid days feel warmer than

drier days, even if the temperature on the drier day is higher. How is

this possible? The answer has to do with sweat and evaporation. When your body sweats, it is trying to cool off. The sweat is then

evaporated and cooling the body. On humid days the moistureprevents the sweat from evaporating. Most people start

feelinguncomfortable with 45% relative humidity. Athletes need to

stayhydrated and remove helmet to cool off.

Birds sit on power lines on not get

electrocuted, but how? It is simple if you have aninsulated wire, but if you don’t it is still not as difficult as it maysound. Some say it is because that birds don't get electrocuted whenthey land on a live wire because they are not grounded others argue itis because electricity follows the path of least resistance and since thewire offers less resistance than the bird, the current ignores the birdand continues through the wire.

The first one is right. Electricity goes up one leg and comes downthe other. This is based on the principle that it must be grounded. The

second the bird touches the wire with one leg and touches something else with the other leg, it will die.

Ancient mariners seemed to have no problems circling the globe

in their ships. How did they sail before the invention of thecompass? They used early and ineffective navigation tools.

Most stayed with the most basic rules of the sea. They stayed

where their could see the land. The more wiser and smarter sailors

had their own secrets that they kept secret to avoid war and trading

competition. They paid attention to the stars, sun, wind, and time.

In 1997, leaders from around the world met to discuss reducing harmful fossil fuel

emissions, this meeting became known as Kyoto Protocol. A final decision was made

that the countries of European area where to drop green house emission by about

5% of the 1990 average by 2008-2012. The Australian government reports the will

reach the target with out purchasing credits. E-15 and E-12 have reached their mark as

an average. By 2012 no one may need an extension to reach the 5% target marked.

As difficult as the fun house mirrors may seem, its just a trick of the eye. By looking

closer we can see it is either concave or convex, or the two switching making waves. Concave mirrors stretch to make you tall and skinny. Convex mirrors squish, so

they make us short and large. Another important component is your point of view.

Most people see the same but kids and adults views differ because where they are

looking.
