Professional Cookery

• A one-year course

• You will achieve a Level 2 in Professional Cookery.

• You will study everything from health and safety through to menu planning, how to prepare soups, vegetables, meat and fish and producing cakes and biscuits.

• Training is provided in the purpose built Kitchen and coffee shop at the Brunel Centre, giving learners the unique opportunity to gain both skills and knowledge to progress into work or at a higher level vocational qualification.

Work Placement

• This is compulsory and will take place in the café at the Brunel Centre or at the Yeo Valley factory.

• You will prepare food and drinks and serve members of the public and Yeo Valley employees.

• Catering is a wide and diverse profession, it provides work opportunities throughout the West Country.

• The Brunel Centre is located on the Brunel industrial estate and is owned by Newton Abbot College, Coombeshead Academy and Teign School. The unique location provides an ideal environment for learners to gain experience and qualifications in a real working situation.
