Week Beginning: 29th September 2014
Launch Date: 5th November 2014
Day Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
Production Activity
I must choose the right date to launch my magazine, which will be in November
2014.
My next step is to create a schedule for the production of the magazine. The schedule will
include the budget plan, the Photoshop
experimentation and the
construction of content for the
magazine.
The next step is to make a budget plan, which is an overview
of the amount of money needed to
produce the magazine. This will be
to see how much money is used over the course of these four weeks because we want to have the
right amount of money for putting this
magazine together.
I will now spend the next two days
experimenting with the mastheads
positioning on the template created for
the magazine’s 1st
issue.

Week Beginning: 6th October 2014
Launch Date: 5th November 2014

Production Activity I must now ensure the budget plan is realistic by making
sure that I have enough money for
putting together the magazine and that I don’t overspend at
any given stage. The process of the producing the
magazine and the budget need to
match.
I must now spend the next two days sorting out the flat plan ideas for the first issue and the
content that will go into the magazine, for example I will feature articles,
album reviews and interviews
I will now plan what kind of images will be going in and who will
be the subjects. I want my images to stand out as much as Q’s
images do and also I want to feature the
music artists that my target audience want
to see in them, for example, artists for
the pop and rock genres.
I will also plan out what the format
(size) will be in my magazine. Q is
28.5cm tall and 21cm wide, but as Q is also my rival, I want my
magazine to be almost the same size
and make it approximately 30cm tall and 23cm as it is the normal size of a
British magazine.
My next step is to decide what kind of house styles (font and colour scheme) will be. My current pick
is Impact as the font and blue, black and white as the colour scheme but that may change by the 13th October. I want my
magazine to stand out as a rival to Q with a font
and colour scheme that is different to Q’s red,
white and black.

I must now spend the next three
days sorting out the flat plan
ideas.
My next role is to decide what kind
of advertising products will go
in by seeing what Q advertises. I will advertise products that appeal to my
target audience, for example an
album that relates to the
pop/rock genres of my magazines.
My next role is to decide what kind
of advertising products will go in.
I also want to include products
that appeal to men and women (my target audience)
for example; I could advertise a fragrance for men
or jewellery for women.
I must also contact the name of the product’s companies
for advertising in the magazine. ASA are in charge
of choosing what kind of products should be advertised
and make sure they are appropriate for my target audience and avoid any
advertising that looks harmful misleading or offensive
because I do not want to have complaints from readers on
the first issue.
I must now decide whether the overall design should be continuous throughout the magazine with the
rest of the editorial team.

Once all of the steps are complete,
I must decide on who should appear on the front cover of the first issue. I have selected Sam
Smith.
Once the main star is chosen, I must
now get in contact with them and
arrange an interview, and the date with the main
star for test photography.
10 questions must be prepared for the
interview once it has all been confirmed. All other Content
acquisition for the 1st
issue will be finalised by this date as well.
Photography and editing for the
magazine will now be underway for the
star of the front cover and interview.
After putting together the all the magazine content,
it will all now be proofread, printed
off into the final product and
distributed to retail outlets such as WHSmith or a
newsagents to be sold.
