Principal Egyptian Gods

I’m going to talk about the most important gods in Ancient Egypt.

Ra • He is the big god, he is the god

of the sky and he is the beginning of the life in ancient Egyptian mythology.

• Ra symbolized solar light.• He was in charge of the dead

and resurrection cycle.

Amón

• His name means ``the hidden god´´

• His wife is Mut and his son Khonsu .

• He symbolizes the air , he is everywhere .You can’t see him but you can feel him( hidden god)

Mut • ``The Mother´´, mother goddess.

She was the origin of all the world.• She is the sky’s goddess .• She was the wife of Amón and the

Khonsu’s mother.

Khonsu• He is the moon god , he

was the sick’s protector ,too.

• He terrorised the bad spirits.

• He also symbolizes the land’s fertility and the children recently born.

• He was connected with the time course.

• He has got two forms.

Osiris

• He was the resurrection god.• He symbolized fertility and

Nile’s regeneration. He is vegetation and agriculture god.

• He preside over `` The Deads Trial´´.

• He was killed by his brother.

Isis• She was Osiris wife and sister .• She was called `` Big magician

´´ ,`` Mother goddess ´´, ``Queen of gods´´ .

• She was the goddess of maternity and births.

• Isis is her Greek name , her Egyptian name was Ast.

Horus

• He was `` The High´´ .• He was the son of Osiris and Isis.• He was the god of heaven .• He was the beginning of

Egyptian civilisation.• His Egyptian name was Hor.

Seth• He was the god of brute

strength, of the tumultuous and the uncontrollable.

• He was the god of the wrong things and the darkness. He was the god of the desert, war and violence ,too.

• He created the Oasis.

Hathor• She was the goddess of love ,

happiness, dance and music.• Her name means `` Horus

temple´´´ because she was Horus wife.

Anubis

• He was a funeral god , Necropolis master .

• He was pattern of embalms.• He was killed by Seth.• He is in charge of say welcome

to dead people.

Thoth• He was the god of writing,

wisdom, music and spells.• He symbolized the moon.• His Egyptian name was

Dyehuty.

Ptah• He was a creator master and

a magic master, too.• He invented the bricklaying

and he was the pattern of architects and craftsmen.

• He had got curator powers.

Nut • She was the night goddess.• She was called ´´ The big one

who give birth the gods ´´.• She was the creator of

universe and the stars.

Maat

• She was the law’s and harmony goddess.

• She was Ra’s daughter .• She symbolized universal

justice and universal balance .

Apis

• He was the god of agriculture and fertility.

• He was a funeral god ,too.• His Egyptian name was

Hap\Hepu.

Sobek

• He was the crocodile god. • He was the god of

fertility ,vegetation and life.• He created the Nile from

his sweat.
