EVALUATION QUESTION 2

PROMOTION The point of my ancillary tasks was to promote my film trailer. Film posters are a great way to advertise a film as they can be used on billboards, inside magazines on buses. They help catch a persons attention and may persuade them not necessarily to watch the film but to research the trailer and become more interested in the film.

A magazine cover is an eye catching feature to a potential audience, where they are able to read more about the film, read reviews or catch interviews. The cover has to be eye catching and interesting in order to catch the audiences attention and make them buy that magazine over other possible competitors. The cover also feature key details such as price, barcode, title and issue number.

CONTINUITY To combine my film trailer, magazine cover and poster I considered the idea of branding and continuity promotion. I used the same font for my trailer and poster, I chose to use a different font for my magazine cover as it wasn't appropriate or fit conventions of other magazine covers. The font represents a clean, slick tone as this is how I wanted my products to come across. By using the same font throughout the audience are able to associate the font with my film. According to my audience feedback, most agreed my magazine cover was extremely effective and professional looking, I felt the use of my digitally manipulated image is unique and several people commented on the exciting detail and how this would persuade them to buy the magazine because of the main image and plenty of other features presented; which would be a convention of real media products.

LINKING MY PRODUCTSOne feature I find successful in the linking of my three tasks together is the use of reviews, I wanted my magazine to seem real therefore when creating my trailer added in a review from the title of my magazine. I then also used this review on my poster, this links all three of my tasks effectively as reviews are important to give your potential audience confidence that the film is worth seeing. My two ancillary task also link well with the strong use of images; due to my genre there isn't a set main character, as my film is focused on a collection of real subjects.  However I have used images which focus on the people which feature in my trailer, this is vital for audience recognition and impact. The images used in both my poster and magazine cover are heavily edited and give a powerful impact on the audience, which was my main aim as my trailer portrays a strong tone as well. I also feel that the tone of my tasks all combine to represent my genre of sport documentary.

IN CONCLUSION Overall, I think the combination of my three tasks work together effectively. The film poster includes a review from my magazine which is also present within my trailer, which combines all three tasks. As well as this, the release date also links my products together as well as the feature of billing blocks which are used in the trailer and poster. These are features of real media products implying my overall products have a professional feel. I also feel the style of my work all links to have an overall stronger impact on my audience as the sleek and strong designs are modern to reflect my indie style, my ancillary tasks also don't give a lot of information away just like the trailer, as this keeps people guessing and wanting to find out more.
