PREPOSITIONS OF PLACE
The prepositions of place are used to identify the locations of people, places and things.
Examples:
The bank is on the corner of the Maldonado Street and León Borja Avenue.
Marco´s house is behind the school.
The prepositions of place are the following:
NEXT TO
Next to refers to a person, place, or thing that is beside another person, place, or thing.
Example:
The library is next to the post office.
BEHIND
It refers to the location of a person, place or thing that is at the back of another person,
place, or thing.
Example:
The pool is behind the hotel.
ON THE CORNER OF
It refers to the place where two streets meet.
Example:
The house is on the corner of 10 de Agosto Avenue and Larrea Street.
IN FRONT OF
It refers to the location of a person, place, or thing that faces to another person, place, or
thing.
Example:
The students are in front of the board.
ACROSS FROM
It refers to the location of a person, place, or thing that is on the other side of another
person, place, or thing.
Example:
The mall is across from the bank.
BETWEEN
This preposition refers to the location of a person, place, or thing that is in the middle of
two things.
Example:
Kate sits between Mary and Paul.
IN
This preposition refers to a location in certain area or in a closed space.
Example:
Miami is a city in Florida.
ON
It refers to the location on a surface. Use ON to refer to a street.
Example:
I live on this street.
