Concluding Action Plan

Students should draw together a minimum of five prioritised action points explaining how these link back to their self- analysis arising from their activities throughout the module and the documentation they have prepared as a result.

This should be seen as an important part of the e.portfolio assessment.

I had the opportunity to review my journey and development and have come up with the main points I shall be concluding as an Action Plan.

1) Continue my journey of future aspirations of job roles and participation in interviews/applications for jobs.

I'm currently working at Barclays as a customer service B2 advisor for the debit card disputes team and can draw upon a lot of experience where I have to deal with matters of complaints, enquiries and training to new starters in the department which is relevant to this research. During the participation in the Professional Skills module I also been applying for other roles at other banking organisations such as HSBC, M&S and Lloyds TSB where I had received offers and therefore understand the requirements for the whole recruitment process from online applications, tests, panel interviews, role play exercise and presentations. This again was a mandatory process which I undertaken with Barclays which I passed and received my offer of employment in June 2013. Three months ago I handed my resignation notice to Morrisons. This was my first job after working two and half years at the supermarket as it gave me the chance to show my ability to work in a customer facing role. It shown that I could build up on my experience not at only Morrisons but through my volunteer work for charity and second year mooting representative experience in order to secure and receive offer of employment at Barclays. Therefore I can relate to the most basic experience on shop floor to working in a professional environment in business park for one the well known banks in the world.

Therefore I will continue to obtain feedback via telephone interview and ensure that I work towards improving my chances and understanding what is required in the

recruitment process as it changing continuously. I will also build upon my work experience as I next year intend to study the module Legal Advice Representation Unit from the skills I have gained in this module and applying them in practice. I will also be making a CV interview and standing out from the crowd of applications and make myself more employable and showing potential through other methods of applications via the skills I have gained in this module.

2) Activities Outside of comfort zone and in relation to seminar discussions evidence

I understand the importance of trying new activities and exploring new hobbies as the Action Learning Sets helped me to improve my advocacy skills and achieving 65% in the advocacy summative assessment. The feedback inspired me and has helped me to understand my strengths and I have seen my personal development through the module and have learnt a lot through feedback obtained.

3) Law Careers Representative Role: Professional Skills Obtained Through Student Services:

This part time job role was obtained earlier this year thanks to feedback I obtained on the module. I taken part in the I have also voluntarily taken part in projects as a student researcher for Literacies for employability research project (L4E) closely working with other students on the Law LLB degree programme and Emma Flint senior lecturer at the BCU Law School. Therefore I can build upon my experience and skills of evidencing and reflecting my data and feedback from the project showing independent thinking and problem solving approach to ideas for the research project. I have also taken part in and graduated with a certificate on the Leadership front runner course a 3 day event meeting leaders and networking. The experience and insight into the professional environment workforce and the leadership thinking was in-depth and research based which I will be using during my placement. I have also certificates and training for customer service and passing relevant courses in regards to numeracy and literacy for the professional environment. I have also completed legal research certifications and course to assist in building not only professional work related research skills but also legal skills required for legal placements. I have successfully passed my advanced Westlaw and lexis training building on the basic experience and certificates I obtained in my first year of the Law LLB degree. I will through this job use my skills of leadership and mentoring which I felt was my weakness to start with but is actually now my strength.
