Outline:
• What is the TPACK Framework?
• Components of the TPACK framework
• Interactions among the components
TPACK Framework
• It is a framework proposed by Mishra and
Koehler to understand the kinds of knowledge
needed by a teacher for effective pedagogical
practice in a technology enhanced learning
environment.
Core components
• CONTENT KNOWLEDGE
• PEDAGOGICAL KNOWLEDGE
• TECHNOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE
TPACK Framework
Interactions among the three types of knowledge:
• Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PC)
• Technological Content Knowledge (TC)
• Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (PP)
• Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge
(TPACK)
Pedagogical Content Knowledge
• Content and Pedagogy
• Different disciplines, different instructional strategies.
• Subject matter transformed for the purpose of teaching.
Technological Content Knowledge
• Technology and Content• Subject matter changed by the application of
technology.
Technological Pedagogical Knowledge
• Technology and Pedagogy• Teaching and learning change with particular
technologies
Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK)
• Instersection of three bodies of knowledge• Teachers viewed as producers rather than
consumers
Conclusion• Teachers have a critical role
to play in this new world,
but will be able to do so
only if they see themselves as being responsible
for the Total PACKage, one that lies at the
intersection of Technology, Pedagogy and
Content.
