Task:- Each branch of government will attempt to gain power.

- Three situations will be read about each branch, your branch needs to determine how ONE of the given scenarios is unconstitutional.

Goal of Game: to use the powers given to the 3 branches of government to check and balance power so that there is a separation of powers among the branches.

Where each branch can look

Each branch can use ALL articles, so it is my recommendation That you divide & conquer among your group. Some specific parts that will be of use are: Executive - Article I, Section 9, Article II.Legislative - Articles I, II section 2, IVJudicial - Article III, Article I Section 9, Article II

President - The President orders that a mass murderer be sent back to Washington from Oregon.

Congress - Congress passes a law taking (earning) 10% on lumber being exported.

Courts - The Court allows one of it’s members, Justice Boody, to remain on the Supreme Court regardless of his guilty verdict of treason.

President - The President declares war on China.

Congress - Congress decides that beards are illegal; anyone who wore one in the last year must pay a $1,000 fine.

Courts - The Courts rules that income tax is illegal and that each citizen doesn’t have to pay.

President - Jay-Z comes to town and cuts off the heads of all parking meters in New York City. President Obama pardons him.

Congress - Congress passes a law naming California as the ONLY state allowed to grow & distribute oranges.

Courts - A police officer is the state of Montana, violates the 5th amendment, through neglecting to read an accused man his legal rights, and the case is taken directly to the Supreme Court.
