PLOT
ExpositionThe part of the plot that introduces the characters, the setting, and the basic situation.
ConflictA struggle between opposing forces. Sometimes the struggle is internal, or within a character. At other times the struggle is external, or between the character and some outside force.
Rising ActionThe part of the plot that includes events that builds up suspense that leads up to the climax.
ClimaxThe high point of interest or suspense in a literary work.
Falling ActionAll of the action that takes place after the climax in a literary work that leads to the resolution.
ResolutionThe conflict has been resolved, either positively or negatively.
DenouementAnything that happens after the resolution of the plot.
