the time.• Note 7 is a helpful addition - feel it!

Rhythm• Keep it simple• Try just marking chords• 1/4 notes often best when more is required• Try 1/8 notes (and occasionally 1/16 notes) -

often as a broken chord• Left hand simpler than right hand• More movement at the end of the bar• Do less than you think you should...

playing• Remember you don’t always need to play

Piano / Electric Piano• Simple chord based parts• High fills and lead lines

Pads• Depth and continuity• Glues the sound together• Be careful of too much top end• Layer the sound

Hammond organ• Good as second keys• Gliss and flick!• Good for energy where piano doesn’t work• Can work in slow songs• Be careful of volume

Lead synth• Be careful!• Great for lead lines in intros and breaks• Volume can be an issue
