Working title • Amplify- I really like this title as it is short and snappy and has a strong relation to music as

the word amplify is music terminology. This title would straight away make the reader notice that the magazine is of the music genre before they have even read it.

• Addicted- This masthead idea creates a strong relationship with the audience because the more they read it the more they will want to keep on purchasing it hence the word addiction. The popularity of this magazine name will make the circulation of my magazine increase.

• Dynamic- I also like this title as it is also a music term and this would again reinforce the music genre and keep the audience aware of the genre before they have even opened the magazine.

• Exposed- This magazine name creates a different feel for the reader as it is not a music term and this shows that the magazine will show many stories about celebrities and also that nothing will be hidden and that they will be fully “exposed”.

Genre of music • Indie- After looking at my surveys it is clear to see that my most popular choice

of genre was indie music, this would be the best type of genre to use for my magazine as if it is the most popular it will gain the best circulation for my magazine making my readership scale higher and I will be able to discuss the other aspects of the magazine based on how many people buy it. The Indie genre have many stories I could look into and is also a wide field.

• Pop- Not only was indie the most popular choice of genre in my survey, the second most popular was pop and I think I would incorporate the pop genre at some point because this would attract another type of audience which would make my audience wider and would again make more circulation for my magazine.

Price• I think £2.99 would be a reasonable amount for a monthly magazine which is what my

magazine would be. With the price being reasonably expensive this would encourage the reader to buy the magazine because generally more expensive magazines have better “freebies” which is what I would try make a USP for my magazine. The more freebies that my magazine has the better the circulation would be. The people who would buy my magazine would be mainly in the ABC1 category because it is an expensive magazine but you get the moneys worth as it will have freebies and is a monthly magazine so there would be a lot more content than there would be in a weekly issue. My magazine is a really cheap price for a monthly magazine however this is due to me wanting to undercut the competition because most magazines that are issued monthly will cost £4-£5 but with mine being cheaper and having the same amount, if not more, of contents then hopefully my magazine will become more popular with the audience so more people will subscribe widening my audience.

Issue frequency My magazine will be monthly as over the course of the four weeks I will be able to gather more content and more interesting stories than I would be able to gather in a week if I was doing a weekly issue. My audience would be more interested in paying the given price for a monthly magazine as it would work out at better value because if they were paying, for example, £2 a week for a magazine and they bought it every week that would come up to £8 a month and this then shows that by them buying a monthly magazine not only are they saving money but also getting more content in the issue. The audience will be more interested in purchasing a monthly magazine because then they will have a whole four weeks to wait for the next issue which they will look forward to hence why they will buy it straight away or even subscribe to it.

Reader profile • My audience will be of both the male and female gender- 58.14% will be female

and 39.53% will be male. The average age of the magazine will be 17 years old as this is the average age of people who answered my survey which shows they will be the age group that will mainly buy my magazine. People of the age 17 generally spend time on social media which was proven when I posted my survey to be answered on social media and this was the main group who answered it. The good thing about them using social media is that we know they are good with the internet which means they will be able to post comments or reviews on our magazine gaining us a better popularity. My audience will be interested in mainly the indie genre of music but with separate music they enjoy along side it as most people have a variety of music taste. My audience research shows that teenagers spend a lot of time with their friends and they socialise a lot on a weekend whether it be spending time with friends shopping or going to concerts. Teenage girls tend to go shopping and from my research I have learnt that they mainly spend their money on CDs, clothes or concerts which shows that they are interested in the genre of the magazine.

Magazine style and attitudeMy magazine will be called Amplify, the name amplify reflects the music genre because it is music terminology. It is a short and bold title so it will attract the audience and be catchy so they remember it. It will be a monthly issue as it will be full of more content and will be worth paying the price of £2.99. My magazine will be aimed at both the male and female gender at the age of about 16-19. I am choosing to do it aimed at both genders because the indie music genre, which my magazine will mainly be about, is full of bands of both genres so it is equally as interesting for both genders. Amplify will be sold in a rang of places including newsagents and supermarkets. There will also be an online issue which the teenagers will be more interested in using as stereotypically they are on the internet a lot more and will use the online one more than going to pay for the magazine in a shop. The online issue will still have to be purchased but they can do it from their own home. The reader will also be able to subscribe to my magazine and receive a regular issue every month without them worrying about paying each time. The main topics of my magazine will include the newest bands and the latest trends, there will be fashion tips from the artists themselves. My magazine will be fun and youthful and full of all the most exciting content for my readers to keep them interested.
