Genre and Target Audience

Page 3: Pitch

Based on the story of ‘Isla de la Munecas’.A woman finds a shoe and a doll floating on a lake from where a little girl had drowned – she begins to hang dolls on the tree nearby out of respect to the little girl, however, the dead girls spirit is haunting the dolls, hence the title of our film: The Ventriloquist

Plot

Page 4: Pitch

Diegetic – screaming, twigs snapping, wind rustling

Non-diegetic – slowed down “I’ve No Strings On Me” song from Pinocchio, as this links in with the title and plot: it is used for a creepy effect to entice the audience and make them feel scared

Sounds

Page 5: Pitch

We’ll be using establishing shots at the start to give the audience an idea of where the film is set to create the mise en scene – field, abandoned lorry, lake, grey sky. We’ll also use low angle shots as this introduces the idea that the character and therefore the audience are being intimidated or scared by something.

These shots are conventional within thriller films

Shots

There will be fade ins, jump cuts, and black outs within our film as these are all conventional of thriller films.

They will engage the audience and help create the storyline of the plot to make it clear and understandable
