DESCRIPTION
PISIL masssage is a Department of Health accredited massage training modality equivalent to 30 units. The training lasts for a few hours to three days. After the training an evaluation is held before a training certificate may be issued.

Module 1 COURSE INTRODUCTION
Objectives General: Define Pisil Massage, its benefits &
advantages Specific participants shall be able to:
Define what is Pisil Massage is -Know its advantages -Identify benefits -Describe the anatomical terms
-Discuss about massage contraindications
What is Pisil?It is a hands –on method of preventive health
care and therapy thatIncreases vitality
Relieves fatigue
Stimulates the body’s natural healing power by pressure applied to key points of the body.

Stimulates body’s self-healing powers
Prevents illnesses
Restores balance of energy
Easy to learn
Contraindications to Massage Absolute-high blood, fever, cancer,
intoxication, post operation & pregnancy.
Relative- varicose veins, burns, wounds or bone fracture.
Medical-diabetes, weak heart condition, leukemia, others.
Module 2Basic Anatomy & Physiology Objectives:
General: Discuss human anatomy & physiology
Specific: The participant shall be able to:

Describe & differentiate human body system
Definition of Terms
Massage – is the manipulation of soft body tissues
through manual or mechanical means for relaxation or
therapeutic purposes.
Anatomy – study of human structure
Physiology-study of bodily functions & its
interrelationships
Human Body- complex system made of billions cells,
tissues & organs
Systems of the Body1. Skin – separates the human body from outside world
2. Muscular system- gives shape & bulk/form an
individual’s physique/provides movement
3. Skeletal system-helps give the body shape & protects
the internal organs.
4. Nervous system- composed of the brain, the spinal
cord, and the nerves/two major functions-
communication and control.
5. Circulatory system- delivers oxygen & nutrients to
the body’s tissues & removes waste products
6. Respiratory system- consists of organs that let us
breath/when airs enter the body, it does through the
mouth & the nose
7. Digestive system- composed of the alimentary tract &
accessory organs/main functions are to ingest food & to
get rid of waste
8. Urinary system- filters & excretes waste from the
body / consists of two kidneys & two ureters, one
urinary bladder, & one urethra
9. Endocrine system-endocrine glands regulate the body
by secreting hormones directly into the blood stream
10. Reproductive system- responsible in human
procreation
Module 3Fundamentals of Pisil
Objectives: General: Know & apply Pisil Massage
Specific: The participants shall be able to:
Identify five (5) hand movements
Differentiate four (4) degrees of pressures
Discuss three (3) stages of massage
Perform various body mechanics
Discuss on breathing techniques
Identify equipment for massage
Ethical considerations in doing massage
3 Hand Signals
Clenched fist – pressure is too hard or painful
Close-open hand- pressure is too light & needs more pressure
Thumbs up sign- if the pressure is satisfactory
5 Basic Hand Techniques
1. One-thumb press- ball of the thumb
2. Two-thumb press-side by side
3. Thumb-on-thumb press- to exert more pressure
4. Thumb-and-four fingers- cover wider range
5. One-palm press – pressure is even
Degree of Pressure
Light pressure- children & elderly
Standard pressure-surface of the muscle
Medium pressure-pleasurable discomfort
Strong pressure –Stiff muscles
Stages of Massage
Pre-massage- preparation prior to massage
During massage- actual application of massage
Post-massage- things to do after treatment also called after care
Body Mechanics
Kneel rest- buttocks & heel touching
Partial kneeling- one knee on the floor, the other knee is raised
Upright kneeling-both knees on the floor angular position
Breathing Techniques
Deep breathing at all times (both therapist & client)
Inhale with the nose, exhale with the mouth
Consistent all through out
Equipment for massage
1. 70% isopropyl alcohol
2. Clean towels
3. “malong” or lenin
4. Rubber mats for floor session, massage table foe elevated session
Ethical Considerations As therapist, be professional in manner & thought
In case of abuse:
First attempt- hand repositioning
Second attempt- verbally remind client & hand
repositioning
Third attempt- Leave room & report to supervisor

Execute the massage modality from the pre-massage

Part 8- Head Ulo
Part 9 – Face Mukha
Part 10- After care Alagang pinoy
Module 5Individual Assessment
Objectives:
General: Assess participants’ learning skills
Specific: Participants shall be expected to:
Take and pass the written examination
Take and pass the oral and practical examination
