PHYSICS

Page 2: Physics

Physics is the scientific study of matter and energy. Topics

covered include classical and

modern theories, electricity and

magnetism, and relativity.

Page 3: Physics

Are you ready to… ?• Conduct independent research

• Experiment in the lab• Work with other physics

students on difficult assignments

• Struggle with complex concepts

Physics Student A person who likes learning how

things work, especially in the natural world.

If you like math, solving puzzles, and looking for logical solutions, this

could be the major for you..

Professional PhysicsNearly 90 percent of all

"physicists" are working in medicine, education,

industry, or other professions. Physicists are in demand for their analytical

skills in many financial, fund management and research

roles, in law, as weather forecasters, computer

programmers, and as physics and science teachers.

Physics At CCC• Analytic Geometry &

Calculus• Differential

Equations• University Physics

with Laboratories • Statics

The Colby Community College Physics lab now has new Equipment also. These are comparable to the equipment used at larger, four year Universities.

Page 7: Physics

Analytic GeometryA branch of algebra that is used to model geometric objects - points,

(straight) lines, and circles being the most basic of these.

Analytic geometry is a great invention of Descartes and Fermat.

StaticsThis is a course in modern methods in statistics. It will focus on regression,

data mining and statistics based Natural Language Processing. The regression module will extend your knowledge of

building multiple regressions

This Class at CCC is about Engineering Statics, which is the study of forces in non-moving objects. This is important for students interested in architecture and engineering as this is how you determine if buildings and bridges are stable and

safe.
