General admission requirements
Normally post graduate degree holders in management, engineering, finance, marketing other such others are offered admission. The same entrance examination that is conducted for admission to PG programmes in management is also taken as basic eligibility followed by personal interview with the research affairs committee.
Course Details
Although there is no fixed duration for the course, the scholars take 3 to 4 years complete the requirements for the award of the degree. The student chooses a research supervisor and work under his guidance but independently. They formulate their research topic and go on to solve them. Another important outcome of research work is publication of the work in peer reviewed journals. The course culminates with the scholar submitting his thesis to the institute on the research topic he has chosen.
Employment opportunities
The scholars generally aspire for post doctoral career overseas with leading business schools before settling down to academic career at leading business schools like IIM’s, XLRI, Indian School of Business, etc. Some of the international institutions like World Bank, European Union, International Financial Institutions and United Nations offer lucrative career to Ph. D holders in management.
