VIRTUAL REALITY

Most Virtual Reality environments are visual experiences, sometimes accompanied by different sounds. The person who is in the virtual world can partially determine what happens within it through their actions. Stimuli in Virtual reality is usually provided by a computer. However there are possible other options.

3D computer graphics are graphics that use a three-dimentional representation of geometric data that is stored in the computer for the purposes of performing calculations and rendering 2D images.

MMOG’sWORLD OF WARCRAFT

Massively Multiusers Online Games or (MMOG’s) such as World of Warcraft create the environment where userc can interact in real time with other users through in text or voice chat.

The Virtual World requires the use of avatar for player interaction. This avatar is created to look how you WANT it to look, not how you ACTUALLY look. On the contrary Virtual Reality is using YOU as the active character as the world sees YOU. Your actions directly influence the world around you.

The good example of Virtual World is a MMOG. Unlike the Virtual Reality which is fully enveloped in the world. II

Virtual World requires a use of screen. For example a computer, television, tablet or phone screen. Virtual Reality on the other side, is a completely submerging experience. A person involved in Virtual Reality game is no longer in real world of existence

Second Life is considered a Virtual World, not a Virtual Reality. Second Life and Games like it seem to be highly misclassified.

The Rift is a Virtual reality head-mounted display. The Oculus Rift is planning to be designed for games specifically. Today the Rift is improving head tracking, position tracking, higher resolution and wireless operation.

HISTORY

The participants in LARP physically portray characters in a fictional settings, improvising

their characters’ speech and movements. Therefore creating a virtual reality

LARPs can have any genre, although many use themes and settings derived from genre fiction. Some LARPs borrow a setting from an established work in another medium.

o GENRES

Roleplaying may be seen as part of a movment in Western culture towards participatory arts, as opposed to traditional spectator art. LARP is not well known in most other countries.

Virtual Reality has multiple contradicting issues. Many psychiatric therapists belive, that virtual reality causes delusions. It also causes many mental and social problems.

Virtual Reality has a few ethical issues in regard to virtual environments which need to be addressed. These are related to human behaviour and motivations and are also a concern for the gaming industry. Virtual Reality builds grounds for Virtual Criminality.

However Virtual Reality is also used in therapy. Virtual Reality Therapy also known as virtual reality immersion therapy is a method of psychotherapy that uses virtual reality technology to treat patients with anxiety disorders and phobias.

Conserns have been raised about a possible relationship between virtual reality and desensitisation. Which means that the person is no longer affected by extreme acts of behaviour such as violence and fails to show empathy or compassion as a result.
