Solution: connect ILLiad and Alma so that patrons can see all their loans in one place. Staff check in item from a lender in ILLiad which automatically creates a short bib record and places a hold for the patron all in Alma. 1. 2. 3. Staff check this ILL item out to the patron in Alma, using the ILLiad transaction number as the barcode. The loan period is set by ILLiad. 4. Patrons can see ILLiad loans and in-house loans on their MyLibrary account. A. B. When updating an ILLiad lending request to found, Alma automatically moves the item from its home location to the Resource Sharing Library, indicating that the item is not available in our collection Borrowing ILL items for patrons Lending items to libraries ILLiad notifies the patron via email that the requested item is ready for pickup at the service desk. Staff wrap the item and bring it to the service desk. Advantages For ILL Borrowing Reduces staff and patron confusion •All items are checked out to the patron in Alma •All loans are processed from the service desk Needed Enhancements •Allow renewals for ILL items via Alma •Automatically and simultaneously update Alma and ILLiad record with renewal due date •Eliminate sending Alma ‘courtesy’ and ‘due today’ notes Patrons can see that this item is unavailable and can submit a request through ILLiad. Staff decides whether to recall this copy or borrow another copy through ILL for the patron. Advantages For ILL Lending • Identify items in Alma/Primo that are checked out to another library • Provide patron with the option of submitting request for item • Decreases staff time to update requests Needed Enhancements • Ability to update requests for sets (multi- volumes) on the same ILLiad record • Ability to renew items in Alma • Ability to check in items returned from borrowers once, automatically updating ILLiad and Alma
