Mount Annan Christian College 2014 Super STAGE 2 Welcome to Stage 2! It is a privilege to welcome you and your child to our exciting Learning Space for Stage 2. Our unique Learning space has two teachers and approximately 50 students that work together as one class. This offers flexibility and support in teaching our students, by allowing teachers to interact with students and support while a lesson is being taught. Our space offers comfort and flexibility, with each student being able to choose their own seats on a daily basis. The structure of the classroom comes from teaching students to manage their own behavior and to make appropriate choices for themselves. This also facilitates the different ways that we approach lessons in group based activities and project based learning. Please feel free to come and visit us! We are available to meet with parents, if there is a wish to discuss any part of your child’s education. The best times to talk with us is after school or send a note in outlining your query. We will get back to you as quickly as possible. Mrs Todd is primarily looking after students in 3T and Mr Brownlee is focused on the students in 4T. Please address any correspondence to the appropriate teacher for any queries or concerns. Thank you for your support. Mrs Todd and Mr Brownlee Classroom Teachers Students are expected to bring their equipment each day. Please ensure that your child’s items are labeled clearly. We use a web based behavior management system called Class Dojo. Students have their own login to create their own creature. Lunch Orders: we encourage students to place their orders in the lunch basket at the beginning of each day rather than buying it during lunch time. [email protected] Our blog is an important part of sharing and reflecting upon what is happening in our classroom. We encourage parents to look at the blog on a regular basis and it would be even better if a comment could be left to encourage our students in their learning. Homework and Information about what is happening will be posted as needed. Homework will be given each Monday. It will also be due the following Monday. Students are encouraged to complete their homework to help reflect on their learning. Students are encouraged to read each night for about 20 minutes. Our Blog Our Blog Important

MathematicsMathematics is structured upon a fortnightly cycle. In the first week, students are taught a concept. At the end of the week they are given assessment task from which they are grouped. Depending on how well they have understood a concept, students will have the opportunity to relearn the concept, consolidating their learning through practice or be enriched through extension activities. In the larger classroom we will also look for ways to meet the needs by taking small groups for support or extension.

EnglishEnglish is based upon the Daily 5 Program which teaches explicit reading strategies and behaviour management. Teachers will conference with students to set goals for the reading. This year we will also looking the 6 traits of writing to enhance their writing skills.
