Myth of Ramayana in India In India Ramayana is the great mythical

story. People believe in Lord Rama . And they

celebrate the festival like, Dussehara. They also used to transmit epic and

purans from generation to generation. When they meet they say, RamRam,

Sita Ram. Raja Rao use this epic in Kanthapura.

Myth of Ramayana in Kanthapura Raja Rao’s first novel Kanthapura is the

story of a village. The novel is narrated in the form of

‘Sthalapurana’ by an old woman of the village ,Achakka.

Rao’s Kanthapura is reconstruction of his own village Harihalli .

It represent typical Indian village .

Jayramacharya tells the story of Ramayana in kanthapura.

The central myth of Kanthapura is , Rama , Sita and Ravana Which is used to illustrate the fight between Mahatma Gandhi and the British

Mahatma Gandhi became an inspiration to the villagers of Kanthapura .

Moorthy is the hero of Kanthapura. He is also inspired by Gandhi.
