Staying inside gets us all a little stir crazy…even the teachers here at Bright Start Academy O’Fallon! The fresh air, the sunshine, and the space to let kids run around to their heart’s content; these are things you just can’t get from staying inside. But it’s hard enough to find time to work, make dinner, and do laundry, much less find time to hang out in the great outdoors!

Fortunately, we can make sure your child gets plenty of fun in the sun at Bright Start Academy O’Fallon! With our top-notch playground facility and outdoor learning area, we’ve created an interactive and engaging classroom right outside of our doors to make sure that your child is getting all the advantages of being outdoors, while learning and shaking those sillies out, too!

Our playground at Bright Start Academy O’Fallon is designed to be a space where children can strengthen and develop their gross motor skills in best, most appropriate environment possible. Just look outside at the playground and you’ll see lots of little muscles hard at work!

You’ll see kids running, jumping, and climbing on equipment that’s just for their specific age group, all surrounded by a cushioned fall zone! They can safely stretch and challenge those developing arms and legs without fear of falling or running over the little ones. And for bouncing, throwing and catching balls, a large playground area like ours just can’t be beat!

But outdoor play doesn’t just work their muscles and wear them out! Through outdoor play children burn calories, preventing obesity and heart disease, two concerns that early childhood professionals are seeing more and more in young children. Playing outside helps children get stronger and healthier from the inside out!

The outdoor area at Bright Start Academy O’Fallon isn’t just for play; it’s also set up to help with other types of learning as well. We know that young children learn through all of their senses, and the world outside gives them the opportunity to take it all in. There are so many different things for them to experience in so many ways!

Look at the world with the new eyes of a child and you’ll see it in a whole new way! Look at the bright colors and details of the birds, bugs, plants, and grass. Listen and you can hear the whistle of the wind and the birds singing their song.  Walk around and inhale deeply so you can smell the fresh rain and the fragrant flowers. 

Search for different textures, such as the bark on the trees, the crinkle of old leaves, or the softness of a feather. Learning about our world is easy when young children spend time outside! Taking a “listening” walk, collecting items of nature to use in a project, or even talking about the differences in textures can be great springboards for all sorts of activities!

Bright Start Academy O’Fallon knows how important it is that we all spend some time outside, so we’ve made it easy! With separate, age-specific areas for each classroom, as well as plenty of room to run and explore, our playground area helps children be successful while they are learning new skills and having fun, all on their developmental level.

We’ve even covered our outdoor classroom area so we can enjoy being outside come rain or shine! At Bright Start Academy O’Fallon, we know playing outside helps young children develop strong, healthy bodies, but we love that it also provides endless possibilities for exploration and imagination, giving children the opportunity to learn the way children should!
