“Black & White Architecture in Oscar Savio’s Pictures –

From CRDAV’s Photo-archive”

Over twenty years of history – from the mid-Fifties to the late Seventies – are on display at CRDAV’s Library (MACRO).

The exhibition is a tribute, offered by CRDAV – the Research and Documentation Centre for the Visual Arts – to Oscar Savio (Padua, 1912 – Rome, 2005), a key actor, though an unassuming one, of artistic photography in the Twentieth Century. On show is a choice of pictures kept at the Architectural Section of the Fondo Savio, at the Photo-archive of CRDAV.

This Presentation

This presentation covers three sites photographed by Oscar Savio in Rome: the underground parking garage located in Villa Borghese, the Rinascente building (an upscale department store), and the Piper Club.

Each has been put into its geographic context (via Google Earth), “summarised” in symbolic mosaic of pictures (via Photoshop) and documented by other data.
