This character is introduced through a video clip in the movie. The clip consists of him saying he has planted three bombs in USA.

Samuel L. Jackson is introduced by the police thinking he is linked to the terrorism plot, but in actual fact he is a target, which the police don’t know. We find this out right at the beginning.

UNTHINKABLE- THRILLERHow can you tell it is a thriller?

This picture is taken from the opening sequence of the film. You can tell by this there is a gun, which is a massive giveaway that this is thriller, Is a gun is a code and convention for a thriller.

Another giveaway that conveys that it is a thriller is that in the first minute a terrorist mentions he has planted bombs in America. These points as well are included in the codes and conventions of a thriller.

When it comes up to ten minutes into the film. The police declare to secret service, they have the man held captive in a secret location. After watching this I was intrigued to see what they were going to do to him in order to prevent the bombs exploding. However people that enjoy gory will definitely be intrigued to see what happens later in the film.

We are introduced to Will Ferrell at the beginning of the movie when he is going to work. He is an upper-class successful manager.

We’re introduced to Kevin Hart at the beginning too, however he is working class, and from a deprived part of New Orleans.

You can tell the film is a comedy by the front cover, as well as including the actors in the picture giveaway what genre the film is.

GET HARD- COMEDY What will make the audience keep watching?

After the opening sequence, the audience will be enticed to watch the rest of the film. This is because Ferrell is charged with fraud and will be going to prison, however he is too scared to do this so needs toughening up. Kevin Hart is used to toughen him up. This is what makes the movie funnier and more interesting.

EVALUATION After researching and finding distinctive differences between genres, I will take it into account to make it uniquely obvious that my opening sequence is a thriller and not a comedy. I will be able to do this by including basic codes and conventions, that are usually included in thriller films.
