Advantages of Open Access

■Increased visibility■Drives Innovation■Public Access■Increased citation rates■Global Impact

Disadvantages of Open Access

■Encourages journals to publish more articles but of a lower quality

■Publication fees - normally for the author which could discourage them from going open access.

■Unsustainable for the author
