• Research a career you’re interested in• Requires a bachelors (but not a masters)• Not a clinician, counselor, therapist, etc.
• Working mainly with adults and/or families• Not preschool or daycare
• Careers in Family Science Reading can spark ideas• Web Link—Career Possibilities• Start your research on-line• Occupation Outlook Handbook• Job Listings• Don’t stop there
CONDUCT AN INTERVIEW
• Talk to an actual person• Face to face• Phone
• But who?• Family member or friend• Call a business or agency near you and schedule an appointment
• Go prepared with questions• Use Career Profile worksheet as a guide, • Add your own questions• Ask follow-up questions
• Fill out Profile Worksheet with Sufficient Detail • Be professional, use complete sentences• See example posted within assignment instructions
PRESENTATION TIPS
• Practice once before you record• Limit pauses• Look at the camera (instead of your notes)• Add detail to your presentation• This is easier if you conducted an interview
• Try to engage the class• Smile!• If youtube is beyond you, you can use the video
recording available within the course (limits recording time to 3 min)
