not yet met!”

•  Largest E-‐Learning Project ever launched by EU (ICT-‐PSP)

•  52 partners •  21 European countries •  15,3 Mio Euro budget •  April 2012-‐March 2015 – Make 1,5 Mio Learning Resources available –  Involve 2000 schools –  & 10.000 school teachers in Europe

–  opening up content by centralizing the access to European learning content repositories

–  extending their funcOonaliOes through an own toolset that supports producOon, use, and adaptaOon

–  design and develop innovaOve learning methodologies by promoOng and realizing Open EducaOon

•  Build European meta repository for educaOonal resources for the school sector as centralized access point

•  Foster exchange of experiences and knowledge through social plahorm on European, naOonal, local levels

Purpose: Discuss about your individual challenges & barriers and commonly find soluOons … 1.  Build groups (beginners & experts) (5 Minutes)

2.  Self-‐introducOon within groups (5-‐10 Minutes)

3.  Your experiences with or plans regarding OERs (10 Minutes)

4.  Your barriers (10 Minutes)

5.  Commonly find possible soluOons (20 Minutes)

6.  PresentaOon of results (15-‐20 Minutes)

During the workshop, we will provide a list where you please enter some personal informaOon, which we need for the later evaluaOon of the results. Providing your name and e-‐mail address is opOonal in case you like to keep informed on ODS.

If you have parOcular reservaOons, recognize challenges, or already experienced pracOcal

problems, it is Ome to share those (focus on the 1-‐2 most burning issues)

5.   Overcoming barriers … •  How could appropriate soluOons look like? –  Please go through your group’s list of issues and discuss how soluOons could look like. •  soluOons can be anything, a change of behavior, tools, pracOces, techniques, …

–  Are the found approaches suitable for all represented educaOonal contexts or are different soluOons required?




… in the research of the past years, we recognized the following issues as major barriers:

•  Not invented here syndrome (teacher as knowledge bearer) •  How to find OERs? •  Quality & Correctness of OERs •  Appropriateness of OERs (pre-‐knowledge, educaOonal

design, general design, language, …) •  How to determine adaptaOon needs? •  How to adapt OERs?

6.   Group Work Results (GWR) I •  Barrier 1: Language •  SoluOon(s): To use easy tools for translaOons, to use closed capturing

from videos for translaOons, to foster OER development in own language, to provide transcripts in different languages, to address also intercultural challenges

•  Barrier 2: Licensing •  SoluOon(s): To iniOate discussions about licenses, to find ways to ignore

this quesOon, to show simple examples like CreaOve Commons (to change habits)




•  Barrier 3: Up-‐to-‐dateness •  SoluOon(s): To facilitate updates by simple tools, to share update

responsibility with colleagues, to shiq the terminology to professional language, to install clear policy for regular updates by the insOtuOon

•  Barrier 4: Adaptability (to edit and change) •  SoluOon(s): To use open and standard formats, to idenOfy needs for

contextual adaptability •  Barrier 5: “Findability” (to idenOfy firng OERs) •  SoluOon(s): To contextualize OERs, e.g. by relaOng to the curriculum, to
