ACTIVE AND PASSIVE VOICE
Active and Passive Voice
In a sentence written in active voice, the subject performs the action; it does something.
In a sentence written in passive voice, the subject receives the action; something is done to it.
Readers prefer the active voice in most sentences because they normally expect the subject to be performing the action, so a sentence where the subject doesn’t perform the action takes longer to understand. The active voice is also less wordy than the passive voice.
